During this Movement Control Order (MCO) period in Malaysia, I am not able to buy fish that has been descaled or cleaned. So, I am pulling out the descaling fish skills that I learnt when I was a young girl. I hope this short video will give you some tips on how to descale and clean an Indian Mackerel or commonly known as Ikan Kembong in Malaysia.
Caution: If you are not skilled in using a knife, please ensure the knife's sharp edge is always facing away from you. For my case, I used a lot of controlled force on my fingers to control the knife's force to minimise injury.
To remove the fishy smell from your hands: soak and wash your hands with lemon juice.
Stay healthy and safe!
