Just curious... is the melting issue for 4090 solved yet?

great to see a vid on a question I was asking myself for a while now, not so great to hear how much it would set me back....

I would suggest to go with 5800x3d cpu and RX 7900xtx for 1440p, you will be saving $800 for the cost of losing about 5 - 10 fps.. but some titles 7900 xtx is faster than even 4090.

There was a deal on the 7800x3d for 300 on microcenter i almost snagged it but decided i wanted the 12900k for 275 more due to 1440p ultrawide & obs / discord going. If you stick to 1080p 240hz or greater e-sports def stick with the 3d chips!

As someone who recently got a 5120 x 1440 superultrawide, the 5900x and 3080 don't cut it anymore. So I went for a 4090, the thing is, I also need a better cpu and I'm kinda thinking a 7800x3d now and go for Zen 5 next year. At least I'll be able to keep the MOBO from this upgrade. I know these are less cores, but I'll probably be upgrading that again in 10-12 months from now.

Andrew needs to lower his expectations. No current hardware is going to consistently give him what he seeks.

I just upgraded from 5600X/6900XT playing on a 1440p ultrawide monitor, with which I was hitting between 165fps and 53fps playing Path of Exile, to a 7800X3D/RTX4090 getting between 165 and never lower than 135fps! So I'm very happy but my credit card is of course loaded now. 😆

Going from 12900K to 14900K would give him up to 20% more fps, so difference on the border of man being able to notice without framerate counter. Plus somehow improved framerate consistency, but I haven't seen anybody compared these chips here, so it's theoritical and less than more likely to be noticeable. Imo such upgrade is one big waste of money. And there will be always games like Hogwart bringing even strongest CPU way below 100 fps. Other aspect of tAndrew's case is 3070 - fine for "ALL games 100-144 fps" only if man doesn't mind graphic settings. In reality "ALL games 100-144 fps" with pretty graphics works only with changing your GPU and CPU for the strongest possible anytime stronger comes in and even then it from time to time won't cut it, so start doing so or chill out with your expectations ;)

1440P UW is demanding. I've stayed 1440P to not commit myself to supporting it. I could see going 1440P UW or 4K at some point, I will cave.

As someone who uses 1440P ultrawide, I don't see myself EVER going to 4K. If I do want more resolution, it will have to be 4K ultrawide and at that point the pixel demand is way too high for high refresh rate AAA games which I exclusively play.

I have a similar setup 1440p Ultrawide monitor But I have a rt 7800 xt And I run games just fine I'm not gonna say it's 100 to 140 fps all the time But it's still in the 80s

I'd recommend some kind of transition to commercial for that one in the middle tho. It often sounds like you're done but there's more afterwards.

I have 3090, 1440p ultrawide - witcher 3 with new update goes at 30~fps, with DLSS quality at 50 fps
I was thinking about 4090 but 1440p - ARK: Survival Ascended, at 30-40 fps
I'll be waiting for 5090...

I have a rtx 3090 for a 1080p 165hz VA monitor. It's primarily for 3d modelling (which needs abundant Vram) and I couldn't be happier. The only upgrade im considering in the future is maybe get a 1080p 165hz IPS panel

1440 UW takes so much pc. My 10850k 3080 runs standard 1440p fine yet but ultra wide it would suffer.

Great advise when you could actually get a 4090 for $1600, that's not really true anymore. It's $1800+ last I checked and no supply is coming here because everyone's trying to beat the China AI ban.

But, the 4090 is a league of its own, so you might still think it's worth it. If so, then do it now (and check your power supply). If not, maybe a less insane but still worthy upgrade would be a 7900XTX and keep the CPU till he's ready to build a new machine?

The 3070 just does not fit that use case. I have a 3070 at 1440p standard, I love it, it's great for playing Final Fantasy VII Remake at 110FPS. You're not getting 144fps ultrawide on Cyberpunk, Hogwarts, or Starfield out of that thing, that's for sure.

After months of not watching this channel I was able to predict what the recommendations were going to be long before they were made!! If you just go with the latest and greatest of whatever is available at the time you will match their recommendations 9 times out of 10!!!

I have a 5600x, 6600xt, 16gb 2666mhz cl19, 750psu, 75hz 1080p ips monitor. I only play AAA games, and I would like to play them at ultra on 1080 or 1440p.
Do you recommend me to wait for next gen to upgrade the whole pc or upgrade it now?
In case I do it know, where should i place my money?
