Do you miss bedside nursing sometimes? Isn’t 55 too old to enter NP school because its expensive and you may retire still paying on it! Does the ten year rule really apply if your at a non-Profit nursing school?

I graduate nursing school in a few months and eventually hope to be an ICU nurse and later an acute care np but I want to know if I'll be working like a slave (the shifts the docs don't want) more than 4 or 5 days a week, super crazy hours ???

If you don't mind answering, how long did it take you to become a licensed NP from start to finish? I am actually a sophomore in college but I'm not even a nursing student yet. I am working on the prerequisites for the nursing program now and will be applying to the nursing program for next year's start date. I wish I had entered nursing sooner but I did a lot of dilly-dallying in my early teens so I'm starting late.

Hey Sean! I'm a new ACNP graduated about a year ago and I've been working the outpatient Setting LTC, SKilled, Palliative and Hospice roll. I am getting ready to step into a hospitalist position and now have a potential setup as an ICU NP. Not sure where this road will go however watching your breakdown on a day in the life was very helpful! Thanks Sean!
