What did you use to sand them with and what grit? I'm thinking mmm about doing same to my exhausts and heat shields. How long did you let them cure before reassembly? How do they look now a year later? Kind regards
ОтветитьI watched the triumph badges paint job excellent description of how to do a tack coat feelin confident now. Waiting on my paint to be delivered then boom lets give it a go.
Ответить2 questions: why no primer? And january 2020 is it still holding on? And does it need to cure? I see many vids that you have to cure the paint to harden.
ОтветитьWhere can I find this pant
ОтветитьThanks Delboy, this video was very helpful. Just ordered a stainless exhaust and brought the exact same paint. Looking forward to giving it ago.

ОтветитьThis is the only place I see good comments about simoniz paint products especially the "though" paint nearly every review I've seen online and there is a lot and most say it's rubbish to use the gas runs out way before the paint and the finish isn't very good as well as not being any tougher than normal auto paint? Not my words just pointing out what many have said in reviews, always love the video's though 👍
Ответитьi see you have a chiang mai . Thail number plate on your wall 1 gp 3309
ОтветитьGreat! All with only one spray can? then I saw that the surfaces you painted were worked, can I proceed in the same way also on the chrome surfaces or is there absolutely a need to pass glass paper? Thanks!
ОтветитьHi Del!
You have Come along way since I started following you almost over 7 years ago. I'm always learning from you. I looking into the VHT paint here in Canada, The sales men are all insisting I need to lay down the VHT Primer 1st. I see you didn't use it and you didn't years ago, the first time you did your pipes.
I want to copy your steps because you mentioned the issue of reactivating the layers underneath. Is there advantage to primer 1st or is the coast worth the extra paint time?
Thanks for your videos bro! I watch it all!!!! Keep it up!
ОтветитьPlywood is best, no dust.
Ответитьim just painting my tailpipe on my truck with VHT chrome finish paint, do i need a high heat primer for it? ive heard both yes and no
ОтветитьGreat work Delboy! I want to do a similar job on my Kawasaki W800. I noticed you didn't use a primer, just a tack coat. Is there anything I should know about that before I throw myself into the job?
ОтветитьHi mate how long did you leave it till it dry ?
ОтветитьNice! How did the paint hold up now a year later? Using the same paint on my Harley exhaust, haven't cured it yet but paint seems very fragile, maybe much better after cured?
ОтветитьI painted mine and my paint peeled
ОтветитьIs there anything you cannot do? If I ever have a heart attack I would trust you to do the surgery, man.
ОтветитьAnybody else look for the cops during the end?
ОтветитьNice job Del 👍 I’m guessing the same procedure would apply for doing engine casings?
ОтветитьFantastic job with the paint!
ОтветитьBrilliant! Thank you.
ОтветитьI'm watching this video two years later is there any report on how the pain is holding up on the exhaust
ОтветитьJust amazing results be doing mine this week
Ответитьthank you for talking through this so thoroughly.
ОтветитьDo you have a video showing the exhaust after riding? How the paint is holding up?
ОтветитьWhen it does come out grainy is there anything that can be done? (Like sanding or summit?)
ОтветитьEvery time I want to do something to my bike and I'm doing a bit of research, your videos come up. Fantastic job appreciate the effort gone into your videos 👍🏻
ОтветитьHey would you mind elaborating a little on how to buff the flat black to turn more satin?
ОтветитьLove your videos helped me a lot when I did my raw exhaust covers before.
Did have a question
My new Vance & Hines exhaust covers were already factory painted before I got them but they got scratched when I slid my bike.
Do I have to sand down the existing color on befor I spray the vht ? Or can I just spray after throughly cleaning the covers.
Any help would be appreciated Ty
can you tell me how well the finish has held up?
ОтветитьI’m getting ready to paint my exhaust, do I need to sand or scuff up the chrome to get the paint to stick ?
ОтветитьGreat job! Looks gorgeous!
Does this ceramic coating help with heat transfer?
You're awesome 👌 very informative and detailed 👍 great tips and advice 👌
ОтветитьHow did it stick to the buffed chrome?
Dud it chip off at all?
Hi Del I probably missed it in the video, but how do you give it the shine / satin look after it becoming a flat black?
ОтветитьNew to your channel. Thank you for posting this video. Going to try and paint my own exhaust this weekend this same way. Wish me luck!
ОтветитьGlad I seen this video Del. I am currently restoring my grandfather's '86 Kawasaki GT750 and (being a big fan of Simoniz sprays) I bought this very stuff to repaint the engine. The aluminium units were black when they left the factory and was hoping this paint would match it nicely without being too glossy. But now I think it may be too flat without using your technique of giving it a slight shine. May have to have a rethink. I have also considered just stripping the engine of it's old flakey factory paint and polishing it up but I'd prefer to keep as original as possible to honor my grandfather.
ОтветитьAt what point do you heat the paint. When its dry to the touch?
ОтветитьHi Del Just a question do you heat them up when you finished? I've had a look at a few of these and most of them say they bake them when they have finished?
ОтветитьWill this work on chrome heat shield of an exhaust? Do I have to sand off the chrome first?
ОтветитьWhat is a tack coat and what product did you use for a tack coat ?
ОтветитьHow is that ever going to last without putting any “tooth” in the chrome or removing it. Painting over a smooth surface isn’t going to hold that black paint very long. Give it a yea and these pieces will have peel spots with chrome showing through
ОтветитьGreat job Sir.
So, prime is needed, a also some layers with enough time between them.
I need to restore my '91 Katana exhaust&headers and I'm on searching which spray paint is more durable.
Thanks
How do you spot repair? I have a fin, the top actually very visible where I should’ve sanded it better. I’ve primed, painted and clear coated it already. After it cures, can I light sand the area, touch up paint w a small brush and then clear coat? Or is there more to it? Thanks
ОтветитьGreat video! I'm looking to paint the primary, transmission and timing covers on my softail slim. I'm amazed to see you didn't use primer so I'm wondering if I can get away without using it too? I have the Simon VHT Matt black 👍🏻
ОтветитьI’m looking to paint my stock exhaust cans on my Suzuki sv1000. I would like a gloss black look that stands up to the heat. Would this method work with longevity?
ОтветитьDel, does that paint require you to bake it? How did it hold up with flaking?
Ответить
