great series, first read the book which my honeybun gave me... then the series came out on tv.. followed it and it is pretty close to the book ! Bought the DVD set.... and have watched it numerous times.. it always brings me closer to my Dad who fought the second world war... ( in the resistance) in the Netherlands... it is a great series.. wonderful actors Robert Mitchum is superb in this role everyone fits the characters in the book to a T..... wish tv would bring back more series ...

I remember watching this with my mom when I was little. I learned a lot about history between what was in this series and what my mom told me.

Every time I look at Ali McGraw I can’t get my head around why they chose to cast her as someone in their mid twenties who is nearly in their mid forties??????🤫

Natalie is a master manipulator, a tease, loves to play head games and needs a shrink really bad! Difficult to like her!

Mrs. Roosevelt hated alcohol because her father and brother had died of alcoholism. A detail but an important one. The scene is wrong.

If you love books, you're familiar with Vince Flynn. R.I.P. Mithcum reminds me of Mitch Rapp, who would fly a nuclear bomb out to sea to save lives. Mitchum knows he has maybe 50/50 to survive, but that is what is expected.

During the air raid prep at Uxbridge they used the proper name for the Isle of Wight Chain Home station = Ventnor
Kudos for the production team getting that small, by correct, detail in.

I have the DVD set and watch both mini series a couple of times a year. I have studied WW2 for almost fifty years, it fascinates me. The greatest cataclysm of all time. And in the years 1941to1942, things could have gone badly wrong. Russia almost collapsed twice; Churchill had a no confidence vote. IT was closer than many realize even today now that everything has finally been declassified; decades after it should have been.

Aaron is an obstinate old fool in both this miniseries and its sequel.

The British were amazingly feisty. Of course, there was Churchill in...an amazingly feisty man all his life.

Well done but the casting is a bit strange. Vincent is too old. So is McGraw. Mrs. Henry is a disaster.
