The good old time share model is still being repackaged as a vacation rental, we had that 12 years ago in Kata with the Absolute chain, really hard sell, fees were going to be OK but each year the maintenance charges grew.

anatara chain has always been a class onto itself in design. but typically, their rooms starts around $300+ per night. think last year, either at bali or ko samui, I came across one of their sales counters and was offered similar deal to get a very affordable vacation package for attending 2 hours of sales pitch. I had experienced time share sales pitch before, and anatara's sales pitch sounded just like another one, so I declined and walked away. but I think some day, I will have to stop being cheap and book a few nights with the anatara on ko samui just to get the anatara experience, they seemed to have the best looking setup.....

Oh no! Never even consider it. This is a timeshare scam. Don't be fooled by the name. The real Anantara which is next door has the luxury villas and facilities. I attended this same presentation in Mai Khao and I was absolutely surprised how unethical and aggressive their sales tactics are and I actually told it to their face when I couldn't take another repetitive 'offer'. They will make you sit there until you say Yes. Trust me when I say nothing good comes out of joining a timeshare. The fact they don't disclose information on cancelation, difficulty in making a reservation with your points, AND ADDITIONAL FEES EVERY YEAR on top of what you're already paying. You made a good decision and avoiding it. Vacation clubs prey on people who are vulnerable and make them trapped in debt without escape. Unfortunately there are many victims of Anantara vacation club and the minor hotel group. If you want a cheap holiday take the offer but know it comes at a situation of putting you and your loved ones at risk for financial trouble. Stay safe.
