Keto is great but the biggest takeaway from all this is to stop calling it a diet. A diet is temporary. You can go on any single diet for 2 months and lose weight and you will gain it all right back once you start eating the foods you were prior. You need fats and protein to survive but carbs are completely useless and we don't need a single gram to survive. Keto will change your life.

what an unfair table of food contents, they somehow forgot to put all the fruits and vegetables that you can't eat on keto, thats basically every fruit and most vegetables, let alone the healthy protein sources from beans and peas and lentils etc etc etc. being very dishonest just to prove your point is really bad.

It's healthy fat, like olive oil, avocado oil or coconut oil and grass fed butter. Lots of good veggies, no starch veggies and grass fed meat. Lots of water. Exercising like walking in the park or the neighborhood.

It took me passing out on holidays and Dominican, giving myself a bump on the head and two black eyes due to low blood sugar and low blood pressure. I came home to Canada and made a lifestyle change decided to try the keto diet. I have lost 40 pounds and my blood sugar seems to be stable.

I appreciate hearing Dr Oz, a heart surgeon, weighing in. He didn't speak ill of the diet, but expressed concern for those who do a poor job or cheat - it becomes high fat, high CARB, and we ALL should understand what a big mistake that could be!

High School Wrestler and then D1 Athlete.. that combined with Army service... I was on and off Keto with out knowing it. Fast forward to near 20yrs in Law Enforcement the first half I blew up to 198 with a reported fatty liver (night shift, beer, fast food, ect). the past 12 years I have gone Pollo Pisco and Keto along with supplements. Bottom line I am back to a lean 165 to 170lbs and basically have a really comparable to the Fight Club Brad Pitt body. I feel great and stay around .3 to .8 on my keto blood tests and my blood sugar stays between 80 to 95. oh yeah... lab work is perfect and clear arteries (cardiology yearly exam).

Once you loose FAT , fk Keto , intermidiate fasting and all that.Unfortunally in the Ages of the Ages to stay lean and with energy you need to eat 5 times small meals ( BIRD FOOD MEALS) for sports and bodybuilding AKA Taperwear .... and not to be DUM AS FK withouth carbs. Like I am now to loose 10 kg pure Fat due to a 1 year car accident. I cant Drag my feet in the Gym with this Keto/Fasting no carb bullshit.

67 year old fat guy weighed in at 300 pounds when I retired. 1) Stopped sugar consumption. 2) Went on a strict Keto diet for 1 year and dropped 80 pounds. 3) Changed to a 'one meal a day' (OMAD) with Keto based diet. I did 1 24 hour fast per week and dropped another 20 pounds. 3) Started a regular exercise routine swimming 1 hour per day 5 days per week. Dropped another 10 pounds. Aiming for 185 pounds for my 6'1" frame and getting there with ease. Benefits 1) Reset my insulin resistance and became fat adaptive.. 2) Reversed my type 2 diabetes and my blood sugar levels are now normal. 3) Better energy level than I ever had. Mental clarity improved considerably. 4) Arthritis and joint pain subsided considerably. My doctor was amazed at my progress and when he ordered extensive blood work he stated he had never seen such an improvement in such a short period of time. Longevity will likely follow.

A low carb / ketogenic diet is the best way to correct your metabolic dysfunction. Once you adopt it as your new, healthy lifestyle the biggest difficulty will be dealing with people that eat the standard American diet and can't understand or appreciate the choices we have made and why.

To all those who want to start Keto, Carnivore or PKD — start slowly, let your body adapt to the one you’ve chosen.

Remember, your gallbladder is lazy, as you most likely have avoided fats all your life.
Start slowly.

As someone that’s been doing keto/low carb for a couple years now.. I always had cravings for sweet things .. if you’re like me look into the brand choc zero.. they make a hazelnut spread which is even better then Nutella.. 2 carbs in 2 tablespoons.. whenever I crave something sweet I just eat a spoonful of that & for bread… SOLA BREAD which has 2 carbs per slice. .. they make bagels too which have 5 carbs. Those brands saved me from falling off the band wagon so many times. I went from 160lbs at 5’3 to 109lbs & kept it off.
