As you said there is damage beyond repair.Europe must, together with Canada,Australia,Newzealand,Japan and South Korea, develop its own arms industry and army which it has neglected for three decades. The task is colossal but will create growth, employment and security.

Europe should start taking smalls step back from US rather than giving Trump a "genius dealmaker" victory. That will give Europe the upper hand with the next administration, which will likely actually want a stronger alliance. Only if American isolationism turns out to be the new normal, rather than an anomaly, should Europe be trying to appease a cold ally.

There answer is no. The USA is irredeemable and can no longer be allowed to exist. At all.

Europe doesn't need to buy more American weapons, they need to further develop their own defense industry. Just in case.

Russia has neither capabilities nor disire to invade the West, but the US need to focus on fixing their own internal problems. When they are done, they will come back.

Trump sees that China is the threat, not Russia. Europe sees that Russia is the threat not China. So we have a fundamental clash of objectives or problems to solve. This drives the behaviours which we are seeing. Hence, Trump's plan is to become an ally of Russia to fight against China. Many variations here; 1) Trump becomes ally of Russia, but Russia stabs US in the back. Because Putin does not want democracies to be successful. As they threaten Putin's dictatorship. Better for Putin to work with China, Iran & North Korea, 2) Trump can never become an ally of Russia without Europe making Putin leave Ukraine and having assurances and military defence presence in Europe border countries with Russia. 3) Europe and China become allies, or closer trading partners. Then Trump has to further distance himself from Europe, but then Russia is threatened by China who is a close ally with Europe. 4) Trump, Europe & Russia continue going around in circles with large defence spending and political/military skirmishes while their economies deteriorate, China becomes more power.
Solutions; 1) China does not threaten US (which includes Taiwan, south Asia), then Trump does not need Russia as an ally. Trump and Putin as allies is not sustainable, similar to Europe and China being closer allies is not sustainable.

😂😂😂😂 that is the reason? Omfg how dumb, if the west wouldn’t have the economical issues it has and it’s internal security and middle class wouldn’t fade Trump would never get elected in first place! What an imbecile to blame him for it….

The question is maybe misaligned with the current geopolitical context. Questionning if the Western alliance should be preserved requires a forward-looking perspective. It’s evident that for an extended period, the misconduct of the United States has been overlooked in exchange for their continued support. It may be time to reconsider the collaborative framework. We should welcome participation from these allies, but under revised terms that reflect evolving global dynamics.

There is a disease afflicting America stemming from Trump and rotting through to the MAGAt base. As with all diseases the American body politic will eventually flush it out. However as with all diseases there can be long term after affects. The attacks on education, on the governing structures, the rampant corruption and even attacks on the Constitution will have long term impacts.

There is no such thing in Europe as an alliance it's just an assortment of countries with very different ideas who will never agree collectively to agree and really where will the money come from to pay for all these weapons and then they'll need years to pay it all back,as none of it will benefit jobs in Europe as the weapons will all be made abroad.Europe is a gravy train of Bureaucrats.

The “western alliance” has never been stronger. Countries in Europe are working together better than ever, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are beloved members of this alliance. It’s just one pesky country has decided to leave said alliance that’s their problem not ours 🤷‍♂️
