That’s probably because the early 80s was actually averaging a lower homicide rate with around 150 homicides compared to the 200+ the city averages today, DC didn’t hit 300+ homicides until the year 88 from, 89 up until 97 DC was averaging 400+ homicides a year, So DC today is worse than the early 80s but cannot lay a candle to late 80s and especially the 90s which is DC worst era
