I prefer the wedge shape of the MKII. Would actually prefer if they made the Octatrack in that form factor as well.

My Octatrack just died, so if it can’t be fixed Elektron has a small time window to release a MKII before I buy a new one

How good is rytm mk1 for recording straight outta main outs and processing the song further without overbridge?

Rather than the faderfox... I use the octatrack midi to sequence performance macros using the ctrl1 and ctrl2 midi track buttons.... you can use the octas midi lfo with this setup. You only get 10 macros but with 48 locks thats more than enough. You can do the same with the A4 with the same limitation... I'm a dark Trinity user... the old form factor wins for me too!

This is exactly why the syntakt annoys me. I've been using this method with my Rytm for a couple of years now, and when the syntakt came out I was devastated that it doesn't have a performance section like the Rytm so i could keep doing exactly this. Sure you can do it for individual parameters, but the performance macros are everything!
So frustrating!

Great video. I use the ec4 with the mk2. Easy setup and a great thing to be able to tweak multiple performance macros at once. One thing that doesn’t quite work is the button press to reset the macro. It does turn it off so you don’t hear the effect of the macro, but doesn’t return the value to zero. It leaves it at the value you just turned it to. Soo when you adjust the macro knob again it starts at the last set value. How did you get it to reset to zero?

Great vid! I love my Faderfox MX12. Using the first 8 channels to control my 8 Octatrack tracks and the last 4 channels control my Digitone Keys + the form factor is exactly the same size and shape as the Octa/Machinedrum.

Thanks for this great idea! Agree with you that this idea will give new life to the MK1.

But, I love the MK2's! The angles are nice. Don't so much want a MK3 as just some more backfilling of the Syntakt and DT enhancements to the Rytm.

haha, so funny how different tastes are - for years i keep seeing affordable A4 and AR MKIs, like almost half the price of MK2s used, and i love elektron and wanted them so badly, but the aesthetic of them makes me want to barf and i just cant have those ugly things in my sight so i never got them until several years later i managed to snag MK2s at a really good price similar to MKI.

Hello EZBOT i have a question about all this it will be possible to do the same thing with the octatrack on one midi track and to put one perf per cc knob ?
ps i don't have the octa in front of me
i had a big set up in my youth and sell it all.. life i want to come back to sound with a simple setup rytm mk1 and octa mk1 (analog kick various analog bass with tom and dual vco 909hh sampled good clap etc.. and the octa will handle the rest with samples)
Another question soundwise will you prefer to put ot in rytm compressor even if you miss the fader and all the octa goodness to mandle the rytm sound and just stick with the perf and scene of the rytm (i will not resample the rytm in ot anyway....

You can duck by using trig conditions (trigs automating bass notes placed on kick steps)
