In dipping my toe in the Tiber, I have had more hostility from progressive older Catholics than I have from former Protestants or more conservative/traditional Catholics. Anecdotal, but they really seem stuck on the same 70s goofball nonsense that is not attractive or going to get anyone converting.

Bitcoin, or something very much like it, will be the currency of the antichrist. Every transaction is tracked. And, have no doubt, somebody will eventually figure out a way to turn it off, so you cannot buy or sell unless you have the number on your forehead or wrist.

The problem with running an economy on real money is that there is not enough of it to allow for growth, so you get booms and busts. We have done this before. There is no easy solution to the currency problem. And a solution, like Bitcoin, that depends on electricity is folly. A time is coming when the lights will go out.

What causes inflation is not just too much money, but too much money chasing too few goods. The price of metals for pennies goes up when there is not enough supply of metals. The maniacs in charge have been trying to engineer inflation by causing shortages by doing mad things like killing off livestock and using environmental policies to limit production. They do this precisely because they wish to replace the currency with something they can track and control. They are really excited about negative interest rates, which means, if you aren’t spending your money, you will lose it. If you are going to comment about these things be a little careful.

Also, as another sign of the apocalypse, these mad scientists are hard at work at building an idol that can talk. Appropriately, the founder of a company called Oracle is obsessed with this idea. I don’t think we will make it to 2050, and we may all be under judgment for not doing more to protect the Bride of Christ from the maniacs running the Church. We have too few martyrs with the courage to stand against the false pope. We are so soft that we fear cancellation, where our predecessors accepted death.

We do not hate new converts. What we don't like is the way they act. They act like they are holier than thou. They act like everyone is a sinner except them. They are what we call Catholic Talibans. They are extermist and can be dangeorus.

You can always recognize them because one of their tactics is to use grammar to persuade, ridicule, shame, and bully. VERY easy to spot them because they use the same strategies and tactics for thousands of years. They ALWAYS play the moral high ground as well. Know their techniques and you will spot them in seconds even in social media comments when they make one sentence or phrase remarks. Its that easy.

Most Jesuits are Modernist heretics. I'm 85% through Malachy Martin's book, the Jesuits, and I am appalled and disgusted by the apostacy of that entire leftist organization that occurred in the 1960s. Paul VI, JPII, BXVI should have suppressed the Jesuits. The Church would have been much better off had they done so.

The so-called fundamentalists in the 1920 were the anti-modernist Protestant resistance to theological liberalism and modernism. Some were real scholars like J. Gresham Machen of Princeton Seminary, who wrote a very worthwhile book (now 100 years old and still timely) called "Christianity and Liberalism." They were Christians who were trying to hold on to the fundamentals of the faith, even if some of them did so in mistaken ways. They were contemptuously called fundamentalists by liberal Protestants like Harry Emerson Fosdick.

Fr Massa should reverse his thesis: it is liberal and modernist Catholics who are like the liberal Protestant establishment of 100 years ago, with its sneering attitude toward what was considered mainstream orthodoxy until a couple of generations ago. The liberal-modernist Catholic has been accepted into the mainstream of politics and academia since the 1960s, provided he assimilates the present-day liberal consensus in the established institutions. A couple of generations ago, Boston College (as a Jesuit school) was considered as much of a "ghetto" enclave as Steubenville is now. Fr Massa's reaction sounds like that of the Catholic suburbanite who scorns the old neighborhood in which he and his ancestors used to live and finds his origins embarrassing among his fashionable neighbors. The converts, they think, want to take us back to that bad old ghetto from which John XXIII and John Kennedy liberated us.

However, some of us don't see the modernist project as liberating, and the disintegration of liberal Protestantism is an argument against the notion that the modernist program really leads to renewal.

A lot of these boomers have a thin, albeit rough and abrasive, shell and they quickly crumble with true charity, in my experience one on one conversations are best… be patient with them, soon enough they’ll begin asking questions and eventually admit their flawed catechesis. 🙏🏼❤️

Just FYI, while I agree with you about Boston College being a hotbed of Jesuit progressive garbage, there are a handful of solid, orthodox professors, including at least one amazing young Jesuit priest who celebrates the TLM and teaches theology there. I won't "out" him because he's in a precarious position, but it's not a completely lost cause if he's still employed there.

Evolution is purely practical and has nothing to do with the truth of something. Boneheaded move by Massa to include that word. Given that evolution only adapts a thing for the landscape it currently exists in… with no way to know what the future may bring.

Cardinal St John Henry Newman was also a protestant convert to Catholicism - the Jesuit priest seems to be ignorant of that fact.

I think that the true religion of many "progressive Catholics" and "progressive Protestants" is progressivism.

I am a 50 year old revert - my husband and I entered the Catholic Church this past Pentecost and I do get the feeling the liberal Boomer Catholic women I meet judge me for being too conservative. It’s ok my parents are actually Boomer liberal Catholics so I’m used to being judged as too religious by other Catholics.

If Mr. Eric Sammons and Mark Massa we’re both at the Last Supper I’m confident that Mr. Sammons would be the one who rests his head on Jesus’ bosom and worries if it is he who would betray Jesus. While Massa would be the one who got the 30 pieces of silver. I’ve never heard of Massa before now. But I’ve been inspired and become a better person and less angry by watching and listening to Mr. Sammons.
