Curious as to how much you paid for your truck camper?
ОтветитьGood information thank you
ОтветитьGreat Tip ! One for the Sticky.
ОтветитьGood one bro…
I had a boss who always kept a jump wire in his truck.
Now why would be the reason that relay even exists. Is there a scenario where you wouldn't want the alt charging when running the truck?
ОтветитьI had a horrible time with batteries draining and charging issues. I installed a voltage regulator and found 2 bad grounds that were painted over by PO. A quick strike with the dremel fixed that
ОтветитьYou should do a video on diagnosing the crank position sensor going bad and replacing it. For me this was the problem. I thought it was my PCM and did all the cap replacements, but it turned out to be a bad CPS. It presented similar to a bad PCM. It only happened in the winter and especially on damp days. My tach wouldn't work. Sometimes about 20 minutes into my drive the tach would start bouncing and becoming erratic. Charging would resume. I thought it was the PCM and replaced the caps but that didn't fix anything. My wait to start light always worked and the grid heater always worked. It took years because every spring when it warmed up the CPS would be fine all summer. I finally said it must be it and diagnosed it on a wet frigid day and sure enough the CPS was bad. I think the heat of the engine block would make it work again. Took forever to fix. I used the jumper lead for years in the winter.
ОтветитьAnother thing is the voltage regulator, the voltage regulator is definitely something that has caused my truck to not charge.. It was sucking out more power than it was supposed to be using. Sometimes this happens and it simulates your hraights are on when the truck isnt running, happens a lot.
ОтветитьGreat hack, I saw you the FB group. Looking for the PCM rebuild video.
ОтветитьI know i have a bad pcm, which i was avoiding fixing for now. I tried this, aswell as grounding the blue w yellow striped wire. And still no charge and my wait to start light stays on.
Seems like im going to have to dig at the pcm and follow your vid exactly
EDIT
I wired wired the wrong end of the blue wire to the ground (my stupidity) but its working now. Will update how it acts for a few days.
Great information!!!
ОтветитьHmmm! 🤔 I don’t seem to have an asd relay
ОтветитьI have a question I have. a 93 d250 and no matter what I do I can't get it to charge I've replaced alternator and even installed tranpo 8315 and jumped relay but can't get it to charge any ideas what I should do
ОтветитьI just tried this to get me by until my pcm repair. No dice for me.
ОтветитьI just wanna say thanks for posting these types of videos for these dinosaurs. I have a 93’ and it’s currently not charging going to try swapping relays I have access to a few parts trucks. Guys that are into these trucks and don’t get pissed off and sell it the first time it shows it’s age. It’s hard to hold onto these trucks I have had some very patience testing endeavours with Mine over the 10 years I’ve owned it. I’m really thankful you take the time to post these videos to the select few of guys who appreciate and own one of these beautiful trucks everytime I see one in public I get more excited than a teenage for a lambo. Lol
ОтветитьI have enjoyed and learned so much from your videos. Thank you for posting. I have a 93 with a gremlin inside. I have replaced the cps(oh fun). I sent off and have had the pcm rebuilt. I still don’t show a charge on my battery gauge and no speedo. Occasionally I will get a hiccup shifting(it’s an automatic).
ОтветитьHi Tyler. An Update to my current "No charge" issue. I installed new remaned alternator. Same issue exists. I tried the jumper wire- still no charging. Next I will swap out PCM from my other 93 T/D Ram which has no issues...I will give feedback after doing the work with results..stay tuned.
ОтветитьHi Tyler. Latest update. I swapped out current PCM from Another truck that works in same yr & model as my issue truck. 1993 T/D Cummins auto. No change. Same issue exists. I haven't swapped out crank sensor yet. I Will do that next. Silver lining is I'm finding what's Not the problem little at a time..cheers
ОтветитьGood evening Tyler. I replaced Crank Position Sensor (CPS) With a new plug & install part from NAPA. Not the most fun job to change out part but it is done and charging system is working as it should 👍. I will provide p/n later for those that my need same part. AC clutch not engaging still. Might be a simple fix of wires not connected. Will look later.
ОтветитьNAPA P/N for CPS Is
CSS1256.
1990s don't have any of that stuff or atheist mine doesn't and hasn't been a problem for 6 months but I put a new alt and ne voltage reg because the truck died on the high way I cannot figure it out
ОтветитьGood video man
Ответить🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤. Great temporary ECM bypass.
Now, on to fix the capacitors!
Thank you, fixed my charging issue.
ОтветитьWhen I do this my truck tries to start itself when plugging 2nd paddle in
ОтветитьSometimes it’s not even that the Crank Position Sensor is actually bad and needs replaced, sometimes it just gets rattled loose by the Cummins engine and needs to be readjusted to the right position and tightened back down will eliminate the failure to charge problem when it’s caused by the Crank Position Sensor so check for proper alignment before ordering the part
ОтветитьThank you sir
ОтветитьI have a 1993 dodge d 350 5.9 cummins and let the truck sit for a while and now my running lights come on when i crank my truck? Any ideas
ОтветитьNice video looking great man
ОтветитьDo you have a video on changing the cps can’t find one anywhere
ОтветитьAny knowledge what could be causing the no charge when the bypass does not work? Just changed to a new alternator and still nothing.
