Personally I’m just waiting for the Taki Udon handheld MiSTer.
ОтветитьSo a lot of speculation. Good to hear about replay2 making progress. Hopefully mister2 makes waves. Mars really has been quiet for a while. I think its kind of funny though, didnt people want mars to be quiet? 😅
ОтветитьDo you think the Intel Agilex FPGA can replicate early Pentium and VoodooFX chips? I'd love to have early 3D acceleration on FPGA.
Ответитьsuper informative as always! thanks
VGE, Lu's, and Pixel Cherry's channels are the best for all news on the MiSTer FPGA! there, I said it.
👍🏾💯
ОтветитьSo many new devices and tech releasing this year! Switch 2 announced today. Lots of hype and also quite overwhelming!
ОтветитьMy biggest gripe with the DE-25 Standard is that it only supports 1080p HDMI. Also it only has 25% more LE's than the DE-10 Nano. The Replay2 "phat" version is promising 4K HDMI and 4x more LE's.
Ответитьcant make the "if mister is so good why isnt there a mister 2?" joke anymore
ОтветитьNot sure how I got out of the loop on this, but what is the Replay 2?
ОтветитьBring on the FPGA roms. Carts are awesome, but I just care about the games.
ОтветитьHaving a FPGA solution for Dreamcast and CPS3 is the dream for me.
ОтветитьThe Tower of Power would have been insanely good if the Sega CD was used and enhanced. If Sega would have went that route, they could have extended the lifespan of the Genesis by another 5 years, which would have given the Saturn enough time to mature and be even better than the crappy Dreamcast. If only...
ОтветитьWill DE25 be able to run Sega Model 2 games? And Namco system 22?
ОтветитьPlease something in an ITX format so we can get something that looks decent and exit the triple stack, acrylic/3d printed case and dongle octopus era
ОтветитьI feel bad for all the university students who can’t get a DE-10nanos for their schoolwork. 😅
Ответитьill take the video game traphouse any day :D
ОтветитьI ❤ Nintendo Famicom.
ОтветитьWhat do you mean Taki is working on a PVM? Is he making new CRT’s???
ОтветитьWhat a time to be alive for the retro community. My wishlist - DC core, more power to run complex shaders like the ones found in retroarch, HDR support, someone find a way to bring some form of a CRT back that has native scanlines/supports 240p.
ОтветитьI'd love if the next Mister at first just enhanced current cores if possible, like PS1 rendered at higher resolutions or features like AA added.
ОтветитьI see a lot of talk on the analogue pocket subreddit that people want a new pocket in a GBA form factor. That’s what I’m thinking could happen. My GBA was the original shape (black toys r us exclusive) so that’s what I’m hoping for. What I want the most for a pocket update are shoulder buttons that feel comfortable.
ОтветитьI want a full blown Windows 98 FPGA
Ответитьnice megamax x4(?) choice of background music lmao
ОтветитьThe Dreamcast happens I will laugh in the face of everyone who told me it was impossible!
ОтветитьI'm worried about the small 16MB of SDRAM, and if we can add more as needed like with the DE10-Nano.
ОтветитьId be pumped for Ps1 or a Dreamcast
ОтветитьCome on, we all know you're just an Alejandro fan boy. 🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьI'd love to see a recreation Sega CD that's compatible with original consoles and has the option of either loading games off internal storage or using physical media. It'd also be great if the optical drive could read DVD's and Blu-Rays for the sake of storage capacity. I'm thinking long-term for homebrew developers here. It'd be amazing if SGDK gets Sega CD support and developers could release much bigger games with more FMV on a single DVD, or multiple CDs for people with original hardware.
I'd also love to see someone coordinate the Sega homebrew/indie scene to put out demo disks annually or quarterly, with menu graphics done by some of the demo scene wizards like Titan.
Lofty dreams, I know. But it seems possible and it'd be the sort of 90's revival I'd die for.
I'm not too interested in "FPGA Console clones", as I have all the old systems hooked up. However, I think the MiSTer FPGA could use a new UI. It's a bit confusing, and I could see it keeping some people away from it. It needs a "simple version", if possible.
ОтветитьHow long will Intel keep Cyclone V in production now they're ramping up on their next gen FPGA chip? It'll likely be a good few years, but preparing to move must be planned for as that will be what forces the MisterFPGA to evolve to a new platform regardless of whether the ceiling has been hit on what could run on the Cyclone V.
ОтветитьI'm 💯 gonna get at least a Taki Udon MiSTer Pi Triple Stack, soon. Is there any real reason to get the "proper" MiSTer over the clone?
ОтветитьWait... PVM's?! HUH!?
ОтветитьI think to me, a true MiSTer successor would have to be powerful enough to do everything up to the original Xbox, maybe even Vita and 3ds. Dreamcast is nice but without all of 6th gen I’d have a hard time justifying the expenditure. Though having all of 6th gen could justify a rather big expenditure.
ОтветитьYou know as much as we want a 100% FPGA system that plays everything, I think if someone were to come out with a system that plays everything up to Saturn/N64 in FPGA, and Dreamcast and PS2 in ARM, people would buy it!
ОтветитьI have also been playing around with a RK3588. Connecting it to a XC7K325T, an FPGA with 3x the MiSTer. It has two hard 64bit DDR3 RAM buses. It can support DDR5 using a soft core. Used FPGAs of this kind are relatively inexpensive and in abundance. However, RK3588s are quite expensive and even more so in CM form. There is currently a shortage because they can't make them fast enough. RK3399s are very inexpensive, and in single core performance, not that much slower. The RK3588S variant is a little cheaper but only has one RAM channel. However, because it uses a smaller pitch BGA footprint, the PCB manufacturing becomes more expensive. The new RK3576 is half the price of the 88. It has only a third of the cache of the 88 and only one RAM channel but is very power efficient (excellent for hand-helds). But again, they are hard to get and the technical reference manual has not been made public. I believe that because they cannot make them fast enough, they are only supporting a set number of customers who can access the manual.
Ответитьasstrac and pramid have removed any mention of MARS from their bios. Really weird group of dudes.
ОтветитьI’m looking forward to the Analogue 3D though I’m hoping that maybe it gets jail broken to play PS1 and Saturn cores, if that’s possible.
ОтветитьWith bigger FPGAs still being insanely expensive wouldn't it be possible to combine 2 smaller ones to share the load? On the original systems there are many different chips working together. Maybe one could do graphics, the other the rest? No idea if this would be possible, just thinking out loud.
ОтветитьThere's already so many games and possible platforms that haven't been done on mister i don't see the rush for the outliers at the end. PGM is the obvious one but also so many other arcade boards. Personally the only 6th gen arcade hardware I really want on mister is the naomi 2 due to how expensive and prone to irreparable failure it is. Cv1000 would be nice but cave probably wouldn't be happy with it
Ответить@Video Game Esoterica , did you hear about the TANG FPGA?
ОтветитьNot sure if possible but I'd love an add on for mister that has a arm or other chip that allows for emulation station style front end for selecting games and then games load on the mister core or emulation depending on preset selected. Again, no idea if possible but that would be my dream setup.
ОтветитьI don't think mars is real
ОтветитьMiST > MiSTer > MiSTest ?
ОтветитьHold on MiSTer can't handle CV1000? That SH3 only runs at 133 MHz. What's the maximum frequency that J-Core can reach on DE10? Much wimpier older FPGAs easily reach like 50MHz so i don't think 133MHz is too far out of reach on DE10, sometimes you can jiggle things around and a much higher frequency comes out; and SH3 doesn't really have higher IPC than SH2, it has better features though like MMU which shouldn't be a problem.
Ash's a hero <3
Will really look forward to the Neptune review
ОтветитьYou should have shown the Superstation in your video preview
ОтветитьMARS is the future. All these other devices are vaporware.
ОтветитьMiSTer FPGA 2, shit i better start saving lol
ОтветитьI'm more interested in Mars TBH
