I need advice: What confuses people a little is that in the clips one pro photographer keeps the "white balance" on automatic, the other on cloudy. And they always insist on that. Whether there is a rule or it simply depends on who has a personal working principle, or whether this is better for wildlife and that for the landscape. Although I remember that my pictures were warmer when it was set on a cloudy and they were much better on trips. Heeelp me
ОтветитьI wish i have income from my photography hobby..😂 so i can afford lightroom pro and some good lenses.. My main job is only enough to get my water on..
ОтветитьMost people don't think twice about the difference between cool white and soft white light bulbs, how would they notice the subtle differences in white balance? Anyway, great video in helping choose which one looks better.
ОтветитьI'm impressed of how detailed and didatic this lesson was, can you make a similar video about jpeg?
I have an DSLR but i think i just want the portability of a compact.
Pure gold. I thought I knew everything there is to know about white balance but I learned three new techniques from this video alone. 😅 Dunning-Kruger effect for sure. About the monitor brightness, I think the amount of light in the room matters a lot as well. Avoid both stark sun and complete darkness!
ОтветитьEyeballtechnique...genius!
ОтветитьAnother one of your greatest videos!! Like it as always!
ОтветитьThis may be a beginners question. I know to expose to the right without clipping in the histogram while taking the shot. When I bring up the exposure in post to my liking, there are times the right is going past zero on the right. So, should the post processing white also not be past zero? Still learning! Thanks!
ОтветитьDo you ever work with Luminar Neo ... just curious.
Ответитьi use 4000k and RAW, i go into LR or PS and edit it the way i want
ОтветитьHi I've got one issue am using photoeditor365 and i want to adjust the background colour of my photo but don't know how to do so
ОтветитьPhotographs should be original. Any hack can take a bad photo then use Photoshop and lightroom to turn it into a great photo.
ОтветитьPersonally I use the expodisk that sets the white balance of the scene I’m shooting as the overall atmosphere is what caught my eye and want to preserve that white balance.
Simply put the expodisk in front of lens on Nikon use pre to set custom white balance and done. Something for you to check out that’s worth your time Simon.
Great info! Thanks for taking me along!
ОтветитьReally wish there was a guide like this for ON1 photo raw. It seems a bit harder to get good results.
ОтветитьSimon is the art teacher everyone deserves in life.
ОтветитьThis is such an amazing video. This is what I needed. Thank you.
ОтветитьExcellent tuto, comme d'habitude!
Ответитьthis video is sooo helpful
ОтветитьNot sure if it's just me, but I often really struggle with grass or greenery in general. Always looks either too blue-ish or too yellow-ish, never really looks right, no matter what I do.
ОтветитьI saw a very convincing argument on another channel for always shooting at 5500K set manually. If it's an orange sunset, the result will be orange as it should be. If it's a blue sky or night, it will be blue as it should be. Also when filming the white balance won't automatically change over time, which is a good thing.
The only thing I don't understand is when shooting raw at 5500K, when imported into lightroom the white balance will still be set differently...
Simon always spitting straight facts
ОтветитьI did like this video a lot! Thank you!
ОтветитьI swear this channel is a treasure, Thanks Simon, your way of delivering the information is just PERFECT
ОтветитьA triumph of information delivery as always.
ОтветитьCan these mothods be applied in Canva?
ОтветитьWhat would you say is better if you have to rely on your eyes to set white ballance, to make it easier to colour grade and retain detail in shadows etc... A little below or above the ideal? Thanks
ОтветитьNice Video ❤
ОтветитьI preferred the white bg version, looks much more natural
ОтветитьAre you planning on covering techniques for non Adobe software?
ОтветитьYour videos are amazing! Thank you for sharing knowledge
ОтветитьAs always, great pro-tips!!!
Tysm
you are such a wealth of good information. you get a GOLD STAR!!
ОтветитьAnother fantastic video
ОтветитьMANY THANKS FOR THIS INFO! Even us veteran photographers need to get back to basics with WHITE BALANCE! Again, thanks...
ОтветитьThis feels illegal watching for frer
Ответитьanother excellent video, thanks so much!
ОтветитьGreat information. Very helpful for a newbie.
ОтветитьI keep my white balance set at a constant 5500K. Our eyes perceive white as daylight-balanced (5500K), even when lighting conditions vary. So, to accurately recreate the feeling of a scene in-camera, why rely on auto white balance?
ОтветитьGreat instruction
ОтветитьThank you for such clear and concise instruction - after watching several of your videos I feel like I'm actually getting better at lightroom even after 10 years of using it! Interested to know if you suggest making WB adjustments first and then local masking/adjustments or the other way around? Any feedback is greatly appreciated
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьNow this is the real deal
ОтветитьYou should probably have credited your students in this video.. I mean to be fair..
ОтветитьHey folks I’m in Kenya photographing big cats so I may not be able to respond to questions right away. But put them in here…I’ll have time at the airport!
