WHY Lightsaber Duels Look So DIFFERENT In The Prequel Trilogy

The best sword fight (Light SABER FIGHT) IN THE WHOLE SERIES..When WE SAW THIS IN THE CINEMA WHEN IT FIRST OPENED - EVERYBODY'S JAW DROPPED- THE ONLY MISTAKE THE STAR WARS SERIES MADE - WAS THAT KILLED DARTH MAUL OFF - TOO QUICKLY...CAN YOU IMAGINE IF HE were allowed TO APPEAR IN 2 MORE MOVIES OF STAR WARS?

George Lucas fights were always great from the slow ones to the fast pace ones

I absolutely LOVE Qui Gon. We all do of course. However, the way Obi Wan just bolts out towards Maul with the first few clashes gives me chills every time! I can just hear him thinking "Yeah. You definitely f***ed up now..." after Maul force ghosted Qui Gon

One of the best things that the prequel trilogy gave us is the superior light saber fights. I remember watching attack of the clones as a kid (the first star wars movie i saw) and just in awe with the yoda vs doku fight lol

I liked Maul a little more when he was less of a character and more of an unknown crazy dude who just showed up

And that episode 1 is still the best fight in the series. I don’t like the movie but the fight is awesome.

The moment Obi Wan came running at Maul after the force field went down 🫡

Lucas and the team absolutely cooked when masking the prequel saber duels, I genuinely don’t think that the prequels would have been as good without them.

It took me out of the movie so hard when obi one and earth Vader fought in a new hope, it was so silly and poorly coordinated

And this magic has sadly never duplicated since, in movies

Well old men can move fast (Yoda and Dooku) so not excuse for the stiff Obi Wan vs Vader fight 😅

My favorite lightsaber duels:
#1: of course ROTS Anakin vs. Obi-wan
#2: Duel of the fates (Maul vs. Qui-Gon & Kenobi)
#3: I'm actually fighting with myself between Count Dooku vs Obi-wan and Padawan Anakin, the first duel, and Yoda vs. Darth Sidious in the ROTS. . . . Sooo i guess imma have 4 favorites. . . . 🤷‍♂️👍⚡

The setup was awesome too. No music, the red gates, Quigon losing.. all leading up to Obi vs Maul

Fun fact: The actors became so good at the sword fighting techniques they literally had to slow down the camera for the actual film during the Duel of the Fates because they moved too fast and were so coordinated it was perfect… Remember when people use to hate on the Prequels? Now they seem like the best lol

Say whatever you want about The Phantom Menace, but DAMN it had amazing light saber action and was awesome and fun from the very first minute!! It's one of the movies I never get tired of watching.

The prequel fights were cool... but they had less emotion than the original trilogy. Too much going on and too fast to see the facial expressions. Love both though.

I love seeing people spinning around exposing they're backs to armed opponents.

Prequels = attacks look like they are intended to kill.

The acolyte = you can see them aiming for the lightsaber aswell as standing too far apart

This is why the prequels are my favorite. Older fans hate on them but they have the best lightsaber fights

I would have preferred less choreographed fights...

My headcannon: the fight between old Obi-Wan and Vader is only that boring because they spend most if the fight trying to test where the other is at. The last times vader fought Obi-Wan he lost 2/3 times, Obi-Wan is a master at perfect defense and vader hasn't dealt with someone who can properly stand in a duel since Obi-Wan. Darth isn't trying to open up his form too much by using big swings & Obi-Wan is just doing what he normally does (countering each of your attacks)

I really don't understand why boomers find it so difficult to admit that the prequels are superior movies

one thing is that the old fights felt like they were trying to hit each other and the prequels while awesome as fuck just look like they are purposely just trying to hit each others lightsaber which is exactly what they’re doing

I still love the prequels but I also still think George made a mistake killing off Darth Maul in the first movie. He was the coolest Sith we hadn't seen, would have loved to see more of him (live action.)

Considering they had to slow that last scene down for the movie, Id say the Ewan and Ray took the challenge to heart.

Obi Wan vs maul has to be one of my top 3 fights in star wars that back to front successive blocks is definitely one of my favorite moves in a fight.

The Acolyte has some of the best saber fights in recent years. Shame that people hate that show for some reason.
