I have a feeling that the Cthaeh isn't as evil as the Fae make it out to be. I think that it's trying to reconstruct the world, and what we view as destruction is actually recreation. It's almost biblical.
Maybe Tinkers have a bit of the Cthaeh in them.
Damn, I made this comment before I finished the video.
Yes, I notice the tinker is in a forsaken corner, and trades for an item that later becomes important. Divine intervention?
ОтветитьI kind of got the impression that skilled namers like Elodin, Auri, and Puppet have some kind of foreknowledge of the future. Even old Ben has some foresight into what kind of man Kvothe could possibly become, even though he was probably too young to have truly been set down a path in life. Perhaps as you grow older, your true name becomes more set in stone (🙃🙂🙃🙂🙃), making it easier to see what paths your life might take. Tinkers seem to be able to have that same sort of power, though much it is either much more muted than a master namers, or so much greater that they know to be humble and wise about how they use it. Otherwise they could set terrible events into motion like the cthaeh. Hey, what if the cthaeh is just a really pissed off tinker?
Edit: should have finished the video first😂
This man singled handed trying to keep this fandom alive….
Thank you
In Hespe's story there's this: “I will leave you with the broken house,” Jax said. “That is something. Though it will be up to you to mend it.”
If the 'broken house' is Temerant, then the Tinker's are there to fix what Iax left behind.
So with Tinkers being important to the world of Temerant...are Tanners also important? They all know the song.
ОтветитьBro there is no one out there knowing better about those series than you 🚀.
You should think about writing the third book and publish it online or sell it. I would be the first in the queue 🎉
Taborlin is Lanre. Lanre went to the University. Why? Maybe to learn how to change reality to bring back Lyra.
"Tabor (Great in Temic?) + Lanre (but shortened) = Taborlin" is my thought. It might parallel Tamerlane, Tamor the Lame.
How strange is that ! Scotland is the only country in Britain where people still have the right to roam and camp
ОтветитьIt's actually weird to see Patrick Rothfuss used real cultures in fantasy. I'm about to read the kingkiller stories and didn't know he did this. I have friends who are Irish Travellers (also called Tinkers). They are the last of the Gaels, a semi nomadic culture who foresaw the future, were poets and bards, warriors and kings and queens of Ireland and the Scottish highlands, and were definitely connected to the Fae (Tuatha Dé Danann). So who are the Tinkers?... my guess is they are humans (Gaels) with strong links to faeries and probably with faerie blood lines in their ancestry. Their animals could be Fae, who are shapeshifters after all. Gaels/Tinkers have a close kinship with the land and their animals, keeping genealogies for thousands of years of people, horses, hounds etc. The Gaels had 'bean sídhe' (banshee) who foresaw the future, based on their Goddesses (the Mór Ríoghan, Macha, Badhbh, Ériu etc. who became Fae), and these gifts were practiced by the people of Éire (probably still are). So the weird thing is that this culture isn't a fantasy culture but a real living culture today... it isn't even history - as Anglo cultures would define it. In saying all that, despite the cultural appropriation, I'm still looking forward to reading the books.
ОтветитьSuch a shame we’ll never know
ОтветитьGreat video. The thinker are so interesting
ОтветитьIt seems tinkers try to do good, so to me it seems unlikely that they are related ditectly to the cthaeh. On the other hand, Auri seems to have an idea where an object should be, and I would say that is based on something real inside the kkc universe, and to me the tinkers do something similar, except that they now who should have something. And probably they don't know why.
ОтветитьAmazing video man. Its my favorite series and I forgive Patrick for the time gap on book 3. No series comes close to the poetic depth of this world. You do a great job editing and adding in fan art! It's incredible how often you add a new visual throughout these theory videos. Ive listened to the series 4 times now and I am nowhere near as knowledgeable.. How many times have you read them?! Is there a way to get those coins that were sent to you?
ОтветитьDon't care what anyone says. Kingkiller Chroniques is much better than Harry Potter.
ОтветитьDidn’t one of the tinkers offer to sell Kvothe a copper sword? I’m gonna go back and look. In one of your videos you said that was something he needs to defeat the Chandrian?
ОтветитьI’ve criticized you in the past for only going to the most surface level for these videos (I was very disappointed with your WMF and NOTW breakdowns in specific) but you took a break and this video here after that break is really well done best work you have done in a long time keep it up like this
Ответитьhelp i watched all of your kingkiller videos but can't find the one which analysed the frame story in detail. such as theories on Devan Lochees. which video was that?
ОтветитьI do believe it could be released this year. Him publishing the novella is a good sign, despite his faults and behavior. He's getting back into the writing world again. Yeah sure, it was a re-run of his earlier short story, but you can't deny the fact that it was beautifully composed and a brilliant tale. He hasn't updated in the last few months. It is possible it will come out. I don't have false hope, even if it's not until November or December this year, still...it's a good sign.
ОтветитьI loved the choice of herr maneligg as background music.
ОтветитьI’m really upset that you put this out. Best Kingkiller content and I wish I could Nuke Rothfuss from orbit.
ОтветитьYay! More Kingkiller videos 😊
ОтветитьGreat stuff man, can’t wait for wise man’s fear summary part 2
ОтветитьWe know Tinkers predate the creation war and the university... I suspect they are of Aleph and their purpose is guidance and wisdom to those who both need and are accepting of it. The grey gandalfs of this universe. Humble but devine, sent to Shepard.
Angels are the white gandalfs... They are mighty, inspiring, but not aggressive. Sent/created in response to a time of crisis.
We know Aleph gets involved in the world but doesn't force it to fit his will. If the angels are a response to the creation war and the seven sorrows... What would his influence look like before that chaos required holy defenders?
If angels are anything to go by; then tinkers are beings that were failed by the world, and have become the solution they themself needed. Not in violence, rape, and war like angels...
Foke who lacked the means to find water, the local knowledge to cultivate crops, didnt have a horseshoe or rations at a pivotal moment.
Once victems of an unmet need, outcasts, or somewhat untethered from socity. Now become something more.
LOOOOVE ur vids but WMF in depth summary pt 2 when?? D:
ОтветитьThank you ✨
ОтветитьLoved this video thanks. Well it’s been about 3 months- time to re-listen to name of the wind and wise man’s fear for the 114th time.
ОтветитьThe t-word is still an offensive term in Ireland. Always found it wrong that Rothfuss named the Temerant that.
ОтветитьGreat video! Tinkers Lore is one of the best in the books! So many possible theories!
ОтветитьI think tinkers are more like Puppet, they are See-ers, they see what people are in need of or are in wanting of. Retired archaists also seems like a possibility.
ОтветитьI love so much how ai picgens support ur videostyle! The fit in seemless. 😊
ОтветитьMy guy is out here, making cake from crumbs. Thank you.
ОтветитьI discovered your channel because of the kingkiller chronicles and become a big fan with every video I’ve watched. Congrats on the recent 100k, excited to watch the channel grow even more.
PS I really enjoy the vlog channel with your fiancé as well! I hope to see a new vid soon!
Fantastic!
ОтветитьGreat video!!
I also like how not even bandits do anything to tinkers, even when roads are dangerous. In Wise Man’s Fear, he says: “Thing’s aren’t so bad that anyone would dream of laying hands on a tinker.”
I absolutely love the Tinkers, they flesh out the world in such a great way, but of course like so much with Rothfuss they're wonderfully mysterious. My mind went straight to a link between Tinkers and the Cthaeh, giving the Tinkers a slight sinister undertone and credence to the idea of not insulting them if you want a good day. Looks like Kvothe is going to be paying thrice, when will he learn!
ОтветитьThey are RPG merchants that unlock side missions. That's right ..this all takes place in a game.
ОтветитьThese Tinkers wouldn't happen to know the Way of the Leaf, would they? Asking as a Wheel of Time fan.
ОтветитьThe tinker meeting with Jax before he stole the moon suggests that Tinkers are not fae since the Faen realm wasn’t created yet. Otherwise, 10/10 video
ОтветитьI love your videos. I found you because of Reddit long ago. Why don't you cross post to Reddit now? Is it a 'self promotion' issue?
Ответитьyessss
ОтветитьI haven’t watched it yet but I’m excited for a theory about tinkers
ОтветитьThis was an amazing video.
ОтветитьI love your lore/theory videos, they give these books so much more depth. Thank you so much!
ОтветитьThe theory of tinkers being of the Fae is mindblowing to me. Never though about that but it makes so much sense!! However it leaves an interesting question... If the tinkers are of the Fae, then does that mean that the Fae never came from the Fae realm, as that was only created after Jax unfolded it from the tinkers pack? If that is the case, then where did they come from? Maybe they always had their realm but somehow managed to fold it up somehow, waiting for the right person to open it back up...
ОтветитьThe hermit in the cave is almost certainly Tekham, who is always depicted preaching from the mouth of his cave
