The effect will be better if you use a multi-channel (3rd order) microphone, for example, ZYLIA ZM-1 or ZYLIA ZM-1S if you want to use timecode sync.

Cool! Any idea if you can do this with the GoPro Max? I'm thinking of getting one. Debating between X2 and Max but heard Max has better video output...maybe Im wrong.

I think this is all unnecesary imo. People should just go outside if they want to experience the super ultra basics. We got ambisonics in video games all time. Just play Planetside 2.
