i love sending in iems to Thredup, i specifically source clothiing at teh Goodwill outlet to send in that i know will sell well, specifically Coach sells really well on there. My strategy is to , grow my credit, and buy luxury items on there. I always pay the extra fee to have items returned to me that they didn't accept, bc i feel like they'll more likely take more items bc they don't want to pay the shipping charge when they return too many. I have also re sent items that they rejected before, and accept the next tie lol.
ОтветитьThank you‼️SO glad I saw this b4 I sent my deceased mother's good clothes off into oblivion! Wld have been very upset 😡 😢
ОтветитьI've tried Thread Up as a seller and a buyer. As a seller, a box of higher ticket items was "lost" with no accounting or explanation what happened. I had probably 10 higher ticket items in there and they fell into the Thread Up void. Also, stuff that did make it on the website was mislabeled (this was before the editing option was available). For example, they listed a leather motorcycle jacket as faux leather when it was genuine leather. As a buyer, I've gotten items that were clearly damaged with holes, odors, etc. The quality control is very low.
ОтветитьActually filed a complaint with the BBB. Sent in very high end (ie Acne Studios,Ralph Lauren...) Some items were never worn. Several items mysteriously "disappeared". I realize I only have myself to blame for not doing due diligence, but, word to the wise, it is a scam!
ОтветитьMy Thred Up experience was less than impressive. Only half of what I sent was accepted. They even turned down a NWT pair of name brand trousers. The pricing they chose was often higher than the price I paid new. Once it was all said and done, I sold 3 of the 14 pieces I sent and still owed them $6 for processing frees. Not at all impressed.
ОтветитьI have had some luck with purchasing items on Thred Up, selling however is a different story. I sent in 25 items of brand name lines such as TH, Calvin,DKNY, Lucky. Half of the items were NWT. While ThredUP did list all 25 of my items. When all was said and done, for the 25 items, my profit was $24.83. Lesson learned! 😢
ОтветитьI guess I'll be doing a yard sale.😞
ОтветитьIt’s all a scam. They steal clothes. All “ recycled” clothes are just kept in their giant rotating inventory. Don’t elect to get your clothes back. Customer service doesn’t exist. Everyone is corrupt from the supervisors all the way up to HR. Employees are treated worse than customers. They exist simply to steal clothes
ОтветитьI say, for your cheaper clothes...esp if they show any signs of wear...if you want to have have a yard sale (when it's warmer wherever you are) you could make more than you can on Threadup..like $1 - no more than $5 per item. Really these forums are only good for the higher end and big brand names...as is the case on ANY online sales platform.
ОтветитьThat sounds frustrating!
I don't buy clothes, but once I clicked on a thedup link out of curiosity, and it turns out they just... don't have a menswear section? It's bizarre, they have a boys section, but nothing for adults.
Where did you find the dress you’re wearing! I love it so much
ОтветитьSo you would be better to list your items on Marketplace for lower prices. Less hassle and yoz know the item will be reused.
ОтветитьThose green shorts were so cute!
ОтветитьThank you for the heads up
ОтветитьThred Up is a place to buy...not sell. I sold on the platform and a year later they sold...but the fees cleaned out any profit I may have had.
I have aquired several nice pieces off of the website that I have been looking for, and that was nice. But over all, I do not recommend selling items on Thred Up.
Circa 2016 I sent off a J Crew not outlet wool blend sweater with no pills and 10 kids articles of clothes Osh kosh bogosh & Carters with no stains and the printing was in good shape almost like new. I got $4 -8 total for all of it . At the thrift store the sweater would have been $25-40 , each kids article of clothing would have been $4 . I will never sell with them again!
ОтветитьThey used to give u much more leeway in adjusting prices of ur item. Now it's like 3 or 5 dollars. I sent then a maxi skirt they priced at 14.00 ..should have been 50. I could only adjust it like a dollar. And I have been using them 1.5 years
ОтветитьIt’s a scam company. They stole a bunch of formal dresses!
ОтветитьSeems like to much work. I’m rather work with a local business.
ОтветитьI sent in a bag of higher end brand stuff and photographed everything. I didn’t ask for my items to be returned as they were new/maybe worn once. They kept my brand new white Tory Burch wedges and claimed they were not to their standards and too dirty to list. When I emailed the photos of them showing they were brand new I got the response “they must have rubbed against the clothing in the bag and got discolored”. I asked to pay the money to have them returned and they refused. I told them to let the employee walking around in them to enjoy. And got a response of “our employees do not keep items” 😑😠😒 never again
ОтветитьThey are such a garbage site. I was disappointed with Plato's paying three dollars for an item of clothing I was notified that there was only a return fee for rejected items. I sent in the items, and was sent a Term of Service AFTER they processed my items. The screens were locked that I could not change descriptions and prices High End items show a $7 payout, but in the end I was shown 40 cents on the item sold for over $40. I get a $25.99 amount owed to them for returning my item, and a fee. The same fees I was told would be waived if I signed up. I am then stated higher payouts for items and the items all listed about days and weeks apart from each other. This meant if I wanted to reclaim the items as per their $10.99 fee I was to pay, it was a lit, Each item was marked at $5.99 for each item to be returned. There was poor response every time I emailed in. Items that were on their eligible list were later posted on their site that there was no payout for them. The pay out was trash. They took the discount codes anyone used off on my payout on the item. I lost over $1,000 worth of inventory with me somehow owing them so much money on items they sold at $40-$50 a piece and none of my items were returned to me.
If a Class Action shows up for ThredUp PLEASE TAG ME! I am 100% ready to back you up
🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьI sent several like new Coach handbags to sell and never saw them again. I was told that they were too damaged to sell, which was an absolute lie. I soon found out that other sellers were encountering the same experience as me. I reported it to the Better Business Bureau. They are definitely a scam. Sellers beware!
ОтветитьWorked for them they have huge turnover rates with people lasting 3 - 6 months at most it was like 90% drop rate the group actually isn't good for anyone the customers expect hundreds of dollars for top even mint items and get under ten, they are suppose to review clothing when getting it in yet it can pass from receival to packaging with blood, drugs, money, shit stains, or other bodily fluid stains upon it and since group demands workers do extreme time if you inspect the stuff you will be one of the fired you can't even take a bathroom break without facing time penalties and they put the bathrooms over across the ware house some come lunch or breaktime you have to choose bathroom or lunch cuz break time is eough to walk have the ware house and go back you can't make it to the bathroom unless you also take a time hit.
And they have towers of clothing that would be sent to Africa loads of shit clothing even they probably don't want. I'd say don't buy from and don't donate to them it was a sick place to work for many reasons and faux woke meaning they pretended to be for the worker & have a great esthetical work place yet it was just for the management to play on since you either had to come in very early to use the facilities or stay late.
I agree..I sent so many good brands of clothing to them..and hardly got anything with their sells from my clothes on Thread up.
ОтветитьI stop when they didn't accept the bag when i really needed to and change their system. Ya, whenever doing their sorting you really need to guess whenever you would be able to sell. This was before the system giving us that option. I have a feeling they probably own physical store that not labeled as part of their business and recycle those items to thier pockets.
ОтветитьI sent like 6-8 items they sold 1 item the rest was “recycled” and I got 3.09 in profit which turned into $0. Was very disappointed
ОтветитьThredup is a total scam end of story
Ответить$14.99 kit fee is fairly new within the last year and in small print (no surprise), its too bad because at one point this was a great platform. The "responsible recycling" is BS. A real bummer.
ОтветитьSeems like just donating to goodwill and claiming the $250 tax deduction might be the best way to go…
ОтветитьI used to like Thred Up. I was never super enthusiastic about the payout but at least it was something.. Now they charge $18 a bag to send stuff in and I’m making, on average, $1 - $2 for items that originally cost $80.. I’m so done with them..
ОтветитьThread up is one of the biggest scams I have ever seen
ОтветитьI feel Poshmark, while better than ThredUp, still is best used for items priced at $30 on up. My problem is I just can’t get decent, color correct pictures no matter how hard I try. My house is pretty dungeon like with lots of shade and very little sun. So I opted to take my last batch of stuff to a regional consignment shop (ugh!) with a good reputation. What’s nice there is that the store is in a reclaimed car dealership building so it’s HUGE with lots of parking..but also well put together, clean and also accepts furniture, menswear and household goods. We shall see how this goes - I’m hopefully expecting $80+ in profits from my recent “Fall” drop off of 18 items! 💙
Ответить"Responsibly recycled" is they stick it in a mystery box and still make a profit. I also had items that sold after my 3 month selling window and that went straight to ThredUp since I didn't select to reclaim my items
ОтветитьI like being a buyer on ThredUP. I will never sell on it. I prefer Ebay to sell my clothes.
ОтветитьI hate ThreadUp. A few years ago I sent a huge bag of high quality, in style, blazers. I should have checked the box to return any items they didn’t want, but I didn’t. ThreadUp said none of the blazers would be listed and I have no idea what happened to them.
I could have taken those blazers to my local consignment shop & thought ThreadUp would be easier. Ha!
Never again. I also no longer buy anything from the company.
I also will only take items to my local consignment shop & I donate the items they won’t take since we can use the tax write off.
I am stilling waiting on my items to be process that they received on June 29, 2024 and they are still being processed. All items are new with tags and if anyone sees a Hanifa green cardigan on the site let me know. There is no way of talking to customer service because when I click on the chat now button it does nothing.
ОтветитьI thought Thredup would be a great place to sell items. It’s not for me. I am finished with selling with Thredup. I feel like I’m being ripped off. I would rather donate or utilize another selling platform. Proceed with caution!!
ОтветитьAt least you made money. They took my entire profit for the "kit fee" 🙄
ОтветитьThanks for your honesty!
ОтветитьBought shoes. Site said one size. Got shoes and 2 sizes smaller. And 2 other pair i bought strap broke. One pair worn once and on same day strap came out
ОтветитьMercari or Poshmark? Which platform do you prefer and why?
ОтветитьI wish I would have read or saw this before hand
Ответитьif its something you really don't want at all I guess it's a good place to send the stuff... otherwise do not send anything that's really good .... ugh such a rip off!
ОтветитьFirst time I sent a kit was 3 years ago and even though I sold only 4 items, I got more money that the last kit (3 months ago, 6 items) where I earn $17 but because of the fees I got $0.00 no longer worth it...won't send anything again
ОтветитьSo, what i take from this is don't use thredup. Its like they don't have to spend money for their stock, its all profit for them.
ОтветитьDon't sell on Thredup! They ask $5.99 for each item if you want your clothes back and yo have only 45 days to sell them in the end they are the ones making money from you.
Ответить"I loved thrifting on ThredUp, but the shipping delays were a pain. Since switching to Ditchit, I get my orders in days, not weeks. Plus, the listings are always spot-on—no more disappointment!"
Ответить"I was disappointed with Thredup’s inconsistent quality from sellers. 😞 Since switching to Ditchit, I’ve found trustworthy sellers and top-notch items every time. The whole buying process is so smooth and reassuring!"
