Vote - Election 2012 - REAL United States Video Blog Episode 7

A quick note about the moss: Back in the day, it was used as insulation in floors and walls, not only for holding in heat, but also because it repelled bugs! I will try to make a video response for you tomorrow regarding the election process.

Just some information from germany about Elections. It's allmost the same procedure here, with the difference there's slight more parties to choose from. It was 7 in 2009, and a 8th block wich is counted for all the smaller parties together. There's human vote-helpers only, that manually count the votes and also act as spectators. Machines cannot be trustet, wich you might remember couple years ago in florida, when bush's election needed to be repeat *lol* Anyway, I'm a not voter, it's all same

Thanks for watching and for the comments. I live in Florida, and I remember the problem with the old punch-card system all too well. The new systems seems to work much better, faster, and more accurate. I just wanted to share my personal experience of voting today.

Athena, I did not know that. It has been used for a lot of different things over the years, but my viewers in the north probably have never seen it before.

Yep. that's green screen, done hurriedly, so I could get the video posted before the election was over. How it's done is more involved to explain, but it involves software.

We shot me in front of a green screen, did a chroma-key removal of the green, added that to a track above a lower track with the static image of the map. The lighting was bad to so I had to run the chroma-key twice, which made the compiling process take about two hours for that twelve minute video. Again, we were really in a hurry the whole thing. I probably could have done better.

I use AVID Studio.

Max, good to hear from you! Yeah, voting I think is pretty similar in a lot of places, but we do like technology here, so the scanners really make it a lot faster to get the results. I know many people feel their vote doesn't count for much, and mathematically that is true, but counting a little is better than not at all. I just wanted to share what my personal experience with it was. (Oh, and I am still using your video and practicing my pronunciation. I've almost got it!)

Sergey, thank you. I appreciate the well wishes for my homeland. These are difficult times, but I believe we will turn around and do well in the long run. I have faith in the President. I believe he is a good man and will do all he can. Both candidates are patriots, just with very different ideas. Thank you, and I am glad you liked the new video.

Paul, you may wish to be discreet on how Beverley and you voted and that's perfectly understandably. However, I will not be shy in telling you how delighted I am that President Barack Obama got re elected because at long last, come 2014, the United States will FINALLY have Universal Health Care ! We in Canada have had this medical system since 1967. America is dead last in the Western industrialized world to get Universal Health Care.

Beverley, you will find that Universal Health Care is very good for Women's Health and not to worry - you will still have your own family doctor.

NECHOII, unfortunately the American Heathcare market will not resemble the Canadian, British, French, German, Norwegian, Japanese, Taiwanese or that of virtually every other developed nation. President Obama was and is opposed to single payer universal health care. Instead Americans will be forced by the government to send medical insurance companies whatever premium amount that they want to charge. Or face a tax penalty. What we wanted was Medicare for All.

@ANOTHERAMATEUR : What you write is basically true, but nevertheless, Obamacare is a huge leap forward and everyone WILL be covered under Obamacare ! Perhaps down the road, the SINGLE PAYER MEDICAL SYSTEM which the rest of us know, will be adopted by America.

@ANOTHERAMATEUR : Good news ! You want SINGLE PAYER ?! Come 2017, States will be able to get a waiver to set up their own approved Health Care solution, as long as it meets the standards of of OBAMACARE ! Write your Congressman and tell him you want SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE for your State come 2017 ! I urge you to do this !

I think somewhere the intent of the video has gotten lost. It didn't seem like it was particularly emotionally charged when we made it. It was just about the election happening and voting.
