Is there a way to get this type of cinematic home theater on a “budget” with in wall speakers? We don’t want clunky speakers around. Found the monolith thx certified in walls. Any suggestions?
ОтветитьGood review can you please review the monoprice thx towers ? Also I have to have that chair in your room . Please link it back to me , it's a very nice peice.
Anthony
Either in this video or one of your others you mentioned that there was a TV (I think it was Samsung) that, if you had just $1200 to spend (the total cost after adding a subwoofer to a sound system you were talking about), you’d get this particular TV and use its built in sound system.
Would you do a guy a favor and tell me which TV you were referring to?
I've never heard a cinema speaker package before, so I have no comparison. As for movie theaters, In the last 5 years I've found that they seem to rely on volume above anything else and don't seem to give a damn if they have blown speakers. This is one of the many reasons I prefer to wait for blu ray and watch at home.
ОтветитьSeems that they've been build looking at SPL: should be easy to connect a couple or even more of that speaker in parallel mode; and can be stackable
ОтветитьJust bought 5 of these speakers and matched with SVS PB3000. They are outstanding. Give yourself a treat and play UHD version of Blues Brothers. Yes some amazing car crashes and explosions but real treat is hearing the base guitar of Don "Donald Duck" Dunn and the horns.
ОтветитьGood review as always. I loved the Matrix review as well. It only takes 3 seconds to review that "movie" and your jab was so classy. Thank you.
ОтветитьIf enthusiasts wanted a system that sounds good with music and movies, should they get this magnat theater system but replace the front left and front right with the magnat transpuls 1500?
ОтветитьCenter not a 3-way idk......
ОтветитьHow do these speakers compare to Focal Chora 836-Ds?
ОтветитьWhy no Surround speakers in the Review?
ОтветитьJBL it's where it is
ОтветитьGood video. I am also very curious about their $250 pair Monitor supreme 202 bookshelfs.
ОтветитьTrue review good for all
ОтветитьHey Andrew, what would your "go to" 5.1/5.2 layout? Mainly watching movies. Tried seeing if you had a video of your go to couldn't find it. Thanks!
ОтветитьMagnat are very well-known in Europe. In Australia, they tried to launch a couple of times and didn't quite make it. Lucky me got a very nice set at an auction. Cost me about 5K Oz. 7.2.4. They're brilliant.
ОтветитьHave you had a chance to review any Arendal speakers, specifically the 1961 or the 1723 models?
ОтветитьBest review out there so far. Sad, it is the only one.
ОтветитьI use 30+ years old speakers for my home cinema setup. Front 2x Bowers & Wilkins V202, Rear 2x Bowers & Wilkins V201, Center Bowers & Wilkins CC6 and a Jamo SUB210. All connected on a Onkyo TX-NR626.
Although all the equipement is not the most high end speakers or a top level receiver I'm very happy with my system.
Audyssey did a great job (because the strange the werd shape of my room.
The only tweak was a little bit more sub and some more center. I forgot my front high, those are little Philips bookshelf speakers with ribbon tweeter.
is HT-A9 cheaper?? Hello Oh Yeah
ОтветитьInteresting to hear about the dull look of them. As a blind guy, I bought a silver metal cabinate THX certified 5.1 system around 2007 in Australia. and saw your review and get the need to pull the trigger and swap mine out for more modern functionality (Atmos etc). That said, would miss the look and feel of the units I’ve got.
ОтветитьDear Andrew, I'm going to buy them. Thank you for your review. My idea is to have a 5.1.2 but my only doubt is if the dolby atmos upward speakers are good enough or if you would add 4 in ceiling speakers to amount to 5.2.4??
ОтветитьHey. Great review. Very informative. Question. Is there a way to get this in the states? I was checking the links you provided but I don't see a way to buy it in the website (I don't know if I'm doing something wrong). Thank you in advance.
ОтветитьI’m following your/Kristie’s recommendation and purchased the Magnat system you reviewed (3X LC100, 2X Atmos)
What height stands did you use?
How high above the floor is the bottom of the horizontally mounted speakers?
How high above the floor is the bottom of your TV? How big is your TV(mine is 75”)
How high above the floor is your seating position?
Do you toe the L/R speakers in the way they appear in the review? Did you try them pointing straight ahead, as I imagine they would be if they were wall mounted?
P.S. I’m connecting them (when they arrive) to your also recommended Pioneer Elite VSX-LX 305 receiver)
You’re one of my favorite reviewers and I have faith in your judgment.
BUT
(Deep Southern accent)
This setup best be sounding Righteous boy!!
😊😂
I use identical bookshelf speakers for L C R RS AND LS. with a jbl 12" sub in a sealed cube. Homemade with 1" mdf.
I don't do ports haha
Hey Andrew/Kristi,
I’m amazed at how quickly you responded; I suppose that’s got something to do with the 300K subscribers!
Having said that, your semi useless reply, for which I have the greatest sympathy being afflicted with CRS myself, spurred me to get off the couch as I should have done from the get go.
The stands you specified are 22 inches; the horizontally mounted LCX 100s are then 11 inches tall in that orientation, making the top of them 33” above the floor and the tweeter (22 + 5.5) 27.5 inches above the floor.
The height of your TV appears to be around the center line of the LCXs.
That seems to be lower than the usual recommended height of ear level.
I don’t know how high your couch seats are (mine are 18”) above the floor.
I’m assuming that the measurements of your setup were arrived at by moving them around to where they sounded best as you advised earlier.
My TV is 43 inches above the floor and my ears are about 36” off the floor.
Would you suggest starting with the center line of tweezers at 36”?
The reason I ask is so I can approximate the stand height required.
Do you really think there’s enough information in the rear channels to warrant >$1300 for two more LCX?
Would you recommend one of the speakers you recommended in your article about home Theater speaker setups under $2500?
Sorry for going on so long LOL.
You can probably guess that I’m retired with a lot of time on my hands LOL!
Hey A/K,
Forgot to ask in prior comment, would you set the subwoofer to kick in at 80 Hz to match the 80 lower limit of that Magnat LCX 100? Or would you move it up to 100 to avoid forcing the LCX to it’s lower limit.
OK, I posed some questions to you regarding the Magnat review and you responded.
I have further questions and I don’t see the mechanism for replying to you in that individual thread, or is that not possible and you just come back to the original Comments section of the review.
On Patreon you establish a direct link, facilitating back and forth communication.
I was hoping a similar mechanism existed here in membership.
if I’m repeating myself; I’m new here.
The stands that you specified are 22 inches, the LCX 100 in horizontal orientation as you have them is 11 inches, putting the top at 33 inches above the floor and the midpoint at (22 + 5.5) 27.5 inches.
The bottom of your TV looks to me like it’s around the height of the enter line of the LCX 100.
That seems to put the tweeter 27.5 inches above the floor, which seems lower than ear height as I see generally recommended.
I don’t know how far above the floor your couch seats are. Mine are 18 inches.
I’m assuming that the measurements of your system were arrived at by moving things around to where they sounded best.
The bottom of my TV is 43” above the floor and my seated ear height approximately 36” above floor , so I’m thinking get the LCX 100 tweeters at 36” and buy stands of proper height for that setup.
Would you concur?
Would you set the subwoofer at 80 to match the LCX, or more like 100 so as not to push its lower limit?
Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry to go on so long. That’s what happens when you’re retired with a lot of time on your hands and a fellow gear head to talk to. LOL
Is this the best way to chat? The membership help isn’t at all clear on the point.
THANKS
Can you review the budget friendly Infinity Reference speakers such as the r152, rs152, etc. They usually cost about 400 but can usually be found for about 100 to 130. It would be nice to know if the price to performance compromise is worth it.
ОтветитьI'd take a Monitor Audio Silver 5.1.2 Setup with the Silver 500 7G at Front and a Arendal Subwoofer, or even Klipsch Set with the 8000F over those Magnat's any day of the year.
The Transpuls are awful sounding speakers, and I generally don't have much Faith with this brand in general, coming from Germany I know this brand all too well, and if you want a similar styled Home Theater Set you would do better with another german brand, which is called "Teufel". But still they're musically not even close to Monitor Audio, Q Acoustics, Elac, KLH or even Klipsch. There are too many better, actually audiophile brands than Magnat, I wonder if it's even worth to review these. If they were at least Budget priced ... but they aren't, and against the competition they're just not on their level.
Wonder how these compare to Chane 752 speakers
ОтветитьHey Andrew9ft h. / Kristi. I am looking to upgrade my HT. Running Klipsch now but want to get the mains behind the screen. The HT area is 19ft w by 28ft d by 9ft h. I’ve been considering Klipsch thx600lcr for mains. After seeing this review I am wondering if should start with three of these Magnat LCR 100 THX. I am running two PSA S2112 3000x subs, so base is not an issue.
ОтветитьI used 3 Transpuls 1000 as fronts, wasn't bad.
Great for music, but i did replace them with Klipsch now.
Now it sounds better with movies but worse with music.
Would these be ok for Atmos speakers? I am thinking of 15 of these to be part of a 9.4.6 Atmos setup.
ОтветитьI started using subtitles for nearly all movies/TV shows like 5 years ago and I'm only 29. I just can't understand half of what is being said and it drives me crazy.
ОтветитьYou lost me at that price when I can just get SVS satellites for cheaper
ОтветитьHello, decided to go for them by watching your video for recording and mastering purposes. Is there any delay while live recording with cinema 50?
ОтветитьThese are on massive rebate 50% off at my dealer are they worth it? Under 2400$ cnd founds , its a full package the 3 LCR a pair of their dipoles and a pair of their height channels.
ОтветитьHave you reviewed any Atlantic Technology speakers?
ОтветитьQOTD. I use 5 x Lyngdorf MH2’s for LCRS . They are small but do a very good job when crossed over at 90-100Hz. Also if on a budget , one could consider Jamo D500 LCR’s
ОтветитьHow would these compare to the KEF R6 meta or paradigm 70 LCRs?
ОтветитьCan I mix them with THX SELECT. And sonance cinema select LCR
ОтветитьCan you please compare these to the HTD level 3 bookshelf and center channel, I about to pull the trigger on a dedicated sealed theatre room and stuck on what route to take HTD or magnat
ОтветитьSo I'm thinking of doing In wall speakers like the Klipsch in wall together with in ceiling speakers.
What's your thoughts on quality or should I go for traditional floor standing, bookshelf with up firing modules.
I’m running a pair of the LCR’s as my surround backs in conjunction with 5 Monolith 365t THX Ultra 2 mini towers along with 6 SVS elevation speakers for top front, middle and rear. In my subjective opinion they sound great, with excellent on and off axis performance and REW shows that they have excellent directivity and in room response (in my specific room)
ОтветитьGreat review Andrew 👍
ОтветитьNeed a video on the JBLs. Can't find one anywhere!!!
ОтветитьCurious how these compare to the Klipsch THX-6000 LCR Cinema Speakers
