Plenty of people are reading books. There is much knowledge in books that has never been on the internet. I have been collecting books for decades and have a ton of books that don't exist online. There is almost nothing online worth saving that isn't already in print. The internet isn't forever either. If I see something interesting on the internet, I save it for later. I have seen tons of stuff disappear from the internet. Just one example, I printed out a book from the internet back in the 90s, and it no longer exists online anywhere. My printout is still in my possession. I originally started buying books in case the big cities and libraries were destroyed somehow. I have the most varied collection of books in my area. On top of that, I have found "ways" to obtain hundreds of thousands of books from the back corners of the internet that most people have never explored. I keep plenty of backups and haven't lost a single file in over 35 years.

If you wonder why someone would burn down libraries, there are a lot of reasons. For example, the Muslims burned down all libraries they came across. They said if the books weren't about the Koran, they were evil and needed to be burned. If they were about the Koran, then they were superfluous and needed to be burned. When the Yankees invaded the South, they burned everything. They especially burned the courthouses so it would be hard for us to prove land ownership. Thankfully, they didn't get to all of them, and some of the courthouses evacuated their records to hiding places in rural areas. They killed men, women, and children like they were pure savages.

There are other libraries that have been preserved, such as a private library in Herculaneum. The scrolls were charred and in the mud, but a student has figured out AI software and scanning techniques to scan the scrolls while they are still rolled up, unroll the images inside the computer, and then find all the characters and read them. Scientists hope to find many of the works of the classic writers that we know about from other writers but have been lost through the years.
