I’m sure it’s a wake up call for many as I’ve read in the comments. Please share with me one thing my wife keeps pointing out !
No state tax on SS no tax on Pension? No state tax on 401 ? Yes I know we all pay federal taxes but some people may not be aware
And could help them and myself afford to live in your charming Villages 🤷‍♂️
I know your not a CPA or a tax advisor but have you or anyone else shared these advantages 🤷‍♂️

Jerry and Linda. I brought a home in the village of glenbrook. Last month the house two doors down from me is being listed for 1million. Granted the house is gorgeous, but that much? Also won't with effect my property taxes? We paid 460k in Sept of 2023. Just a point of reference, i noticed today a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom on a lake with a dock on 3.5 acres in Belleville Florida, which is a half hour north if the villages. I don't understand the attraction with the villages? Your thoughts please

A suggestion for if/when you do this yearly assessment video again next time. Please include a section where you show all of the final numbers on one page. It's really hard to try and write down the numbers mid-stream while trying to pay attention to the video, and it's difficult to go back and stop the feed on the exact part where you show numbers in the sections. Thanks for doing this!

Interesting. I have some questions Does the 'Villages" have nursing homes. assisted living and independent apartments? How much do they run? In NYS a private room in a NH can run $11,000/mo. Can you afford to keep your house and have one spouse in the NH? How is staffing in the NHs? How much is a home-care nurse? What is the MD to population ratio? Are new houses still being built? When the baby-boomers numbers start to fizzle out, who will buy these houses? Lesson to younger people, save your money, pay off your mortgages and prices don't go ever down.

I have the Verizon 55+ Cellphone plan too but for approx $135 (1 cell phone) I also get their 5G Home Internet from them for that $135 TOTAL. They sent me a white box that all you need to do is plug it into the outlet near a window and then I got ROKU from Walmart for approx $20. I have a couple of "subscriptions" that run anywhere from $5-$10 a month
I have a question though, With the Insurance Fiasco down in Florida lately, has the cost of Home Insurance Skyrocketed down there at The Villages and How much a month is it running now?

USMobile charges $19.97 a month per line. They use TMobile, Verizon, and ATT for service. Super bargain. I've never been without service.

Are there speed limits for golf carts ,and does it cost to go to clubs and to do sertain shows

Thank you Jerry and Linda for the great job adding up the costs AND explaining them. I believe that approx $61K is a good rule of thumb number to use that includes pretty much all living expenses for a nice home. I was surprised it was so high, but that is what you get to when you add in EVERYTHING. Might I add what a charming couple you make! If we ever move down there I hope to run into you guys! We checked it out for a week in July 2023, and loved many parts of the Villages lifestyle, just not quite ready to make the move yet. Thanks again!

Linda, when you were talking about appliances only lasting a few year anymore that’s called ‘planned obsolescence’ these companies know exactly what they’re doing. Grrrr 😡

Jerry, I just rewatched this because we're trying to get an idea on the expenses for owning in the Villages as a second home. The $1248 figure you put down for home owners insurance with Progressive... is that for a year or 6 months?

I paid $75, but wow that’s a good price.

Has anyone taken the time to add up all of this couples expenses to see that THEIR grand total is per month? If you have, sorry, I didn't see or hear it.

I watched your show about expenses. You list a district fee at the top. What is this? Did you list the cost for the fire fighters? How much is it? What about bond maintenance? How much is that? Do you pay the bond and the bond maintenance at the same time or does the bond maintenance kick in after the bond is paid. Thank you.

But hey, Jerry, that is not "her dishwasher"!! ;o) Reminds me of my dad telling the doctor my mother's shoulder pain was from her vacuuming and maybe he should buy her a new vacuum cleaner. Hi there, from Northern Cal - I'm confused about the Amenity Fee of $183.94 (versus $189 advertised) and the gallons used calculations - is it 10,540 and 2,170 gallons used for water for month of January? I just need a little clarification.

The amenity fees in your area, that's not bad in prices. Your finances are higher than ours here at home. And I totally agree, everyone finances differs!!
I keep up with your finances monthly. But our pay hike has went up on water, car insurances, recently , not a huge amount.
After looking at your water bill, it's cheaper than ours.
Our water company said, family of 2 , should only use 2200 sq cubic, which amount to $25.00 a month. NO TV Only Internet $75.00
Our garbage and trash $57.00 a month, it's sort of high. I disconnect Cable*.
By the time we are done here, it's going to make me realize, to lower my monthly bills , where it's cheaper per month.

We love Naples, but it's really changing and the traffic is horrific. We're in our 50’s. Are there homes on the water? We'd love a water view and maybe a pontoon? Is that possible?

Good job of gathering information relating to cost of living and applying it to your life style in The Villages. I live in Jupiter FL and many of the expenses you have for food, entertainment, fuel, and others are about the same. However, property values, property taxes, auto insurance, and utilities are higher here. Sometimes I feel like the fireman on a locomotive….keep shoveling that coal ($$) into the boiler and you’ll make it to next station each month….lol

Beware of those Palm Tree seed pods..they are very poisonous to dogs..Be careful with Gizmo. :) PS Love my new Bosch dishwasher!

I know this is late but just now watching the video as we are considering moving in the next couple years. Can you/ do people cut their own grass? With such small lots I wouldn’t expect it to take long.

I hope you mention the Save our Homes law in Florida. Increase yearly capped at 3% increase per year from the original purchase price.

Just curious…Why would garbage differ from unit to unit, to where it isn’t included in your HOA fee?

Some line items seem to be low like Home owners ins & eating out. In addition, think you need to update the Medical items to reflect someone who requires more scripts & higher health ins premiums. Overall, think you did a good job & I like the total amounts shown.
