What about buns with a jaw clip or a scrunchie ?
ОтветитьWhat’s crazy is when you bring this kind of stuff up to naturals they get so angry and verbally attack you just for telling truth about the outcomes of the styles and hair care practices. SMH. I worry for the future of a lot of naturals’ hair health because they don’t care about the actual science of hair or listening to certain professionals who actually took the time to study and learn about these things. I really hope more women open their minds and are willing to make the necessary changes to save their hair & scalp 🙏🏽
ОтветитьHey Shell, Hope all is well. I’ve been watching your videos night and day since I went and got my hair cut. I've always struggles with maintaining length due to many of the damaging hairstyles that you've mentioned here. I just have a question about my scalp. Its really flaky and dry and sore when I comb it and it seems to be inflamed. My stylist mentioned me finding a dermatologist. Do you know how I can fix this with a DIY at home until I can get scheduled with a doctor?
ОтветитьWhat curl pattern are you? My hair looks like yours
ОтветитьI always thought ponytails were more damaging than buns, as they have your ends out and exposed to the elements, rubbing on your clothes, chairs and car seats etc. While buns have your ends rolled up and tucked away from the drying sun and wind.
ОтветитьWash n gos tore up my hair went from waist length back up to above bra strap. Had to start my whole length journey over because I had splits way up my hair shaft and little knots everywhere! Them curls hide damage really well. I also was slowly losing density and balding in some areas from constantly wetting my hair. Whew glad I caught it early!
ОтветитьOmg my daughters ends look like that 😭😭😭 she has so much hair and braids are our go to protective style. She is now in a style and go phase because she’s learning how to do her own hair in cute styles she likes. I feel like I can’t win with either of our hair 😩🤦🏽♀️
ОтветитьHow did you get your beautiful waves?
ОтветитьI do have frayed ends as well! Its from air drying my wash an go's , i like air drying though.. How could i fix this ? do i just keep my ends hydrated throughout the week ?
ОтветитьI have a question why most hairdressers or hair stylists do not have
healthy natural hair ??
They wear loads of weaveons ,wigs ect such a turn off for me and am
refering to the women 😲😲
Never heard of buns being damaging. I thought it protected your ends since they were tucked. Buns and bunned mini twists are go-to styles for my daughter. Otherwise she’d be playing in her hair or her ends will dry out. Does this just apply to tight buns? Are loose buns okay?
ОтветитьI believe black women just need to 💜💜💜 on their hair. I used to weave, braid, dye, bleach, flat iron every week. Got so tired of it and spending all that $. I have been natural for 4 years and use Ayurveda and my hair is SO happy/healthy and I feel more empowered!
ОтветитьI love braids but I can’t anymore! It pulls my hair out and ruin all my hard work of taking care of my natural hair, I agree! And that fake hair is not good for you spiritually!
ОтветитьWish you were my hair stylist so bad. It’s so dry here in the DMV! It’s VERY hard finding a good hairstylist like yourself 😩
Ответить💯 Yes I LOVE TO WEAR SYNTHETIC BRAIDS but then I noticed that my ends were thinning and I didn’t know why. 😱 I haven’t wore weave in 5 months and my hair is THRIVING‼️🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
ОтветитьWhere are you located?
ОтветитьEvery since I went back to a relaxer things are much easier.I don’t get stressed out about braids anymore .I only braid twice per year now . Thanks 🙏 for the information
ОтветитьI’d like to add that wearing ponytails all the time (especially low ones) cause breakage at the nape as well.
ОтветитьI really want to be a straight natural but the weather condition in Ghana makes it difficult to keep my silk press
ОтветитьWhats the name of your hair its cute?
ОтветитьThanks so much for this video. Cuz I will not go back to the salon anymore nor wear tight ponytails. I like twists better than braids, cuz they’re easy on the scalp
ОтветитьBraids truly are damaging!!!
I’ve cut over 9 inches of hair this year alone. ❤
When I use synthetic extension (I don't use Kinky twist or coarse harsh extensions) I make sure to wash my scalp and hair every week even if it frizz.
It's better my hair is moisturised than for it to dry out and have a neat style.
This was a great video, thank you so much.
ОтветитьMy mom tries to convince me to do wash and go’s. I told her if I wear my hair loose, I’ll have to braid it up after a full day and I’ll be too lazy too and wear my hair loose for a week. My hair breaks so much when I wear it loose too often. I just keep them in mini braids so it’s less manipulation and stress on my ends.
Afro’s and twist outs are cute, but with my hair’s short length and time, it’s just easier styling my hair in mini twist and going my way. I think they’re cute anyway and I care more about the health of my hair than trying to keep up with all the trends and beauty standards. It still looks presentable.
Shell, how much of your conditioner should we be using? I have fine hair and I use about a quarter-sized amount for my entire head and then comb through. I’m always afraid that using too much conditioner will leave a film on my hair and therefore will affect how well my hair presses (I straighten with an old-fashioned hot comb….not too hot).
ОтветитьYeah that first picture of the ends is me and I’ve done back to back braids for years. Trying to find new hairstyles
ОтветитьThe only time I ever had braids, it was with synthetic hair and it broke my hair off. I had to do a big chop.
ОтветитьI only bun because my ponytail looks choppy 😢
ОтветитьHow do I treat my frayed ends, please 🙏🏽
ОтветитьI'm definitely the one with the messy ends from braids! I use your products, but now I'm gonna start taking your tips doing more stretched natural styles.
ОтветитьYour right 😊😊😊
ОтветитьOmg! I have frayed ends. I was getting island twists and braids back to back. So that explains why my ends look like that smh. Thank you for the info.
ОтветитьHow about Cornrows ? I see you have a weave.
ОтветитьSo there was someone saying how they had human hair for braiding and every stylist refused.
ОтветитьSo what styles are actually healthy for the hair?
ОтветитьI have very fine hair. Braids snatched my edges one time and I ain’t got em since.
ОтветитьAre your products good for 3b/3c hair as well?
ОтветитьAll great points, thank you. Was waiting to hear about wash and go… and the safe way to do them.
ОтветитьWhat about straight back cornrows under wigs? I have fine hair. I think wigs in general have thinned my perimeter a little. I’m waiting for the weather to get to 60 degrees again so I can rock silk presses 😮💨
ОтветитьAlternating the ponytail to a different spot .. ok
ОтветитьFirst! Got my pen and notebook ready!
