Dont understand the title!
Bioware killed Mass Effect with Andromeda.
There is no hope for part 5.
It will be even more propaganda as Failguard.

Bioware is dead.

New Bioware hasn't had an unqualified success in a decade -- if I was an EA executive, I would be seriously contemplating cutting the studio loose. Not saying that that would be a good or bad thing, just saying that the studio isn't making the line go up for EA, so they are first on the chopping block when the execs feel a need to show investors that the company is trimming their bottom line.

My hopes are for the Exodus game. OG BioWare Mass Effect guys wroking on it, Peter F. Hamilton wrote a book to help establish the universe, I cautiously expect great things. ME5.. it immensly pains me to say it but I lost my hopes. I would believe Michael Gamble, but I do not trust rest of this studio. We have seen one of ME writers already and it´s pretty much the same as Veilguard writers.
Edit. if you want "Game of Thrones in space", just watch Expanse...

After the gay and trans problem and horrible writing and design and characters of andromeda to not only make all the same mistakes in dragon age , heck, double down with the stomach churning non sense, to me, to have any hope, is gluttony for punishment.

Before even watching the video , I would argue they were in trouble before Anthem even shipped. It was clear then that their system burned through their very best talent leaving only green newbies and a limited pool of jaded veterans to barely hold the ship together.

It has been dead ever since that fact became true and we have been witnessing a death in very slow motion.

with ME andromeda and ME 3's ending... heck even with me 2 and the story that spawned from there... there isn't any story leads that can be used to do anything but lessen the story of the original 3 and with the current... staff at biowaste then there won't be anyone who can actually do a story worth anything other than a new concording

It's going to be hard to develop another giant overblown-budget game with no customers, and considering "change of leadership" I think companies such as Bioware are now going to have a hard time securing... "extralegal" sources of external capital.

I don't think ME-5 will be a trainwreck, I think ME-5 is never even going to happen.

Y'know...I never thought i'd say this. But EA should shut down Bioware. They've shut down other studios for worse reasons. But they would be justified for this case. Three failed games in a row, years of dev time, all that money invested. And believe me im not going to say oh spare the multimillion corporation, im still mad they closed visceral and pandemic. But like...close bioware and outsource the ip man. They aint worth the money anymore

Ok so after the terrible different color, same ending experience players got with the vanilla release of Mass Effect 3 gamers were saying they were done with the franchise if it tried to come back. And because humans are forgiving by nature most fans gave Andromeda a chance and was spat on and disrespected with the money they spent for that travesty. After that I don't think you could've found 1,000 people in the world that would've wanted another Mass Effect game after dropping the ball twice. Now we see what Dragon Age has become and knowing it was made by even less talented people than before who are currently at BioWare. And they think that Mass Effect will work after all this? Smh they'd be better off just trying a completely new and original IP that this new Bioware could create. Highly doubt throwing N7 on any character or seeing a new design for the Asari (because of course they're going to attack that design) would do anything positive for the company, and basically ensure the death of Bioware as the game they release after Mass Effect 5 will be their last.

In terms of sales, and in my opinion, a “Short” could refer to a product’s total production cost not passed in finished product sales to any amount.

A “Severe Short” could be held as synonymous with “Flop”, and could probably pretty easily achieve a general audience viewpoint of 50% or less in sales to the TOTAL PRODUCTION COST.

If you keep your numbers firm to the simplest of expressions of success, then people will relate to the challenges of even a big company’s growth more.

Veilguard is definitely NOT just underwhelming sales, it is most definitely a flop. If we lowball the Veilguard's budget to about half of what it was rumored to be($200 million), so roughly $100 million, they would still need to sell over 1.5 MILLION COPIES just to break even. Even the best estimates now seem to imply less than 1 million copies sold across all platforms (not to mention the rumors of large amounts of returns).

No matter what spin EA tries to put on this, they cannot lie that the game is a huge financial failure given it's budget, and after multiple other underwhelming (Andromeda) to straight up failed (Anthem) games, Bioware is not doing well. I don't think you fully understand the extent to which media spin can actually make up for such failures, especially for such big-budget releases.

They can media-spin this all they want, but shareholders aren't THAT stupid, and are generally pretty averse to big spending for little gain, especially when that big spending isn't gaining them anything. EA will be fine, but Bioware is a whole other question. I highly doubt EA and it's shareholders are okay with a $100-$250 million budget NOT having good profit margins, let alone no profit at all.

At the very least, given Bioware's current slate of big IP's to work with, I think that Mass Effect 5 could very well be their last chance to make a hit, or be shut down by EA and have the IP taken up by different studios or just shelved for who knows how long. Two big-budget failure's not being profitable is bad enough, but three in a row would be a death sentence.

I'm sorry if it might sound harsh, but in the light of last events concerning Bioware hiring practices and info from whistleblowers within the studio, your wishful thinking won't get you far. This company should seize to exist for it's not a games company anymore, it's a sandbox for mentally disturbed lgbtq activists. That's facts. And it's a pattern here for you to sugarcoat things concerning this evil parody of a game and it's creators. Walking on eggshells again. Grow a pair please)

Considering EA killed studios for less, Bioware is as safe as an antelope in a lion's pen.

Also, why test? Just look at the competion. Plenty single player games that have done well.
No need for testing the waters; just make a good game......

Also, I wish I could be as optimistic and positive as you. I'm beyond that point....AAA studios are perveted corruptions of what game development should be.

I actually put some hours into the game, and it's absolutely ridiculous that while two mad gods are covering the world in blight and slaughtering people by the thousands, one of your companions demands your help coming out to their family. All your other companions will have completely valid concerns: "Hey these scouts went missing, we need to find them and make sure we're not about to be attacked.", "Hey a blighted archdragon is attacking my city.", "Hey my city's canals have been choked off with blight and we don't have any drinking water.", "Hey a cult is raiding my necropolis and trying to free an imprisoned demon.", and then there's "Hey I need your support while I come out as trans to my mother." CAN IT FUCKING WAIT?!

Not only is this ridiculous and steeped in absurdity, it's actually fucking insulting to the community they're trying to represent. No one is going to be worrying about their identity when they're facing the damn apocalypse!

I swear if they make the Asari reject their literal racial femininity just so they can have trans or nonbinary people in the show I’m going to be so disappointed. Asari being only female is like ingrained in the series and already confronts gender norms and all that stuff. They literally call the female partner that doesn’t carry the “father” regardless of what race the other parent is. It’s awesome. Other races literally interpret Asari as attractive females similar to own race. Humans see something like human feminine women, salariens see “blue salarian women” etc. it’s fascinating and should be explored as is.

What a great video.
Sub from me.
Veilguard was actually well made.
The main story of veilguard was outstanding. So there are definitely talented lore-savvi writers there. The character dialogue was entirely too "nice" and lacked conflict.
And omitting slavery and racism was a lame decision.
Overall i did really enjoy Veilguard. But i wish there had been more conflict.

I strongly disagree with "evil" vs "good" interpretation of paragon/renegade systems in ME. Unlike Jade Empire or SWTOR franchises in ME you could never be evil.
One of the strongest characteristics of ME was the fact that you are the savior of the universe against an absolute evil. It is a grand sci fi epic in which you could choose to be "paladin" levels of nice or a rough "get things done" person. That differs completely from being able to go full dark side or turn chaotic evil like in D&D.

Also, one of the other best characteristic of ME was the fact that you are the leader of the team whose goal was to save the universe.
In DA Series the "Bioware-formula-dual-choice-schism" was worked heavily into story and the team-members were spread along that axis. Your team members could leave or even turn on you because they were designed to be members of a particular "choice" run, just like in BG1 or BG2. That meant constant bickering. There are many moments in DA games in which the in-party dynamics take front row and overshadow the main plot.

In games like Jade Empire and STWOR the team members reacted to those alignment shifts and sometimes become "evil/good" along you, demonstrating your charismatic dominance as the leader.

In Mass Effect, the team, although sometimes disapproving of your choices, HAD ALWAYS YOUR BACK. They never complained too much, they did not let bantering turn into endless bickering and would never sabotage the mission by putting their needs first.
You truly felt like the "Leader" of a team whose priorities were set correctly.

As someone who wants as much as possible from a run, I always hated the fact that in DA, I had to balance my dialogue choices by double checking reputation gains/losses, knowing that at any moment I can make bad choices and lock myself out of content.
In Mass Effect I could freely Roleplay knowing my team will have my back.

I hope there are still people in Bioware who knows these differences and will preserve the nature of ME and will not try to shoehorn a "evil/good" BG3 style alignment system in it, or will let team members be annoying little pricks like in DA series.

Dude, you've either been numbed by abysmal failures like Concord, or you're coping. When a game has only made back 1/5 of what it needs just to break even, and sales have basically stopped...that is a massive flop. Breaking even is a flop. Making a few million $ is maybe underwhelming sales, or low sales.

The game is, by every metric, a flop. The leaked sales (estimated to be between 500k-700k) vs the leaked development cost (reportedly between $300m-$400m) leaves a disparity so large that it's simply not possible for this game to ever be a financial success. Even if we disregard the whistleblower leaks and instead believe Bioware's claim of 1m sales, that's woefully short of the 4-5m sales they'd need just to break even. Then there's the concurrent players numbers and the fact that the game was undeniably snubbed in the GotY nominations. The game is an abysmal failure.

They needed 5 million in sales across all platforms to crack even. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Not even profit. 😂 a £250 million dollar “experiment”? 🤦‍♂️ They seem to barely have made back £50 million. 🤷🏼‍♂️

‘It’s a testament that there is a good game in there’. In what world? 🤦‍♂️😂 I think you just have low standards for slop buddy. 🤷🏼‍♂️

You think the fallout show was good …. That’s a perfect signal as to how low your standards are for slop. 🤦‍♂️ it was a retcon filled wreck based on diversity hiring and making the universe a comedy instead of a horror/tragedy series. 🤷🏼‍♂️
