Profession Changes in Shadowlands - Best Crafted Items in the WoW Shadowlands Alpha

Crafted gear solution. Keep it relevant for end game by giving bits that modify existing gear. Similarly update it as new content comes out with higher level gear and lastly make the top crafted gear just as good as the end game raid gear but make it require mats that come from those raids. This allows the gear to still be relevant and a simple soul bound quality for this top end stuff means players won’t simply skip the content to golf farm into it, it’ll still be relevant and it’ll still require that end game content to be run.

The professions for shadowlands have me pumped!

About the stones, would Draenic stones count?

as an eng/ench player, I'm fine with this. The momentum redistributer boots NEEDS a fancy animation.

Hell, even as a mage I would prefer if drums gave the same haste increase...

Not happy with the leatherworking changes, as it is it's a useless profession other than the Drums. Come Shadowlands even the drums are going to be trash.

Can DKs using the sharpening/weightstone on their weapons stacking with the DK enchants??

What will happen to classic gathering professions? Do you still need to level mining in the old ways for copper, iron, gold, etc?

You're spot on about how crafted gear should be scaled throughout an expansion. It should be powerful enough that people with gold want to buy it for a fresh alt.

For ex. crafted gear right now could be at least 400 ilvl, a bit below timewalking and enough of a boost for people who want to jump straight into their first mythic and not have to rely on carries from other generous folks.

It's completely understandable to have this as an option opposed to spamming timewalking & then LFR. Some people hate doing that. People also don't want to get steamrolled in BGs. It'd just be convenient to start out. 400 ilvl is nothing right now. You can get that in a few days on a new toon if you don't know what you're doing.

Do i need to level up my BFA professions or do I start at 1 again in Shadowlands? Sorry if that's a stupid question. I just got back into WoW recently and haven't played since Cata.

Sharpening stones, oils and armor patches are just annoying consumables, just reminds me of my guild pushing me to farm every level of scroll for strength stat back in in the day...

I'm debating which i like more alch or enchant, I'll always have herbalism on, so alas, i must choose

Thanks for the awesome vid! Yeah, haven's seen stone and miscellaneous items mined from mining nodes since Wrath. I think they did away with it either then or Cata. I'm 100% sure there where stones and such coming from nodes in BC because thats when I started playing. Does anyone know if Rogue poisons and weapon oils work together in shadowlands? Trying to see what professions would be best for my characters.

So they become professions again instead of expensive hobbies.

Would it be more favorable to level on newer zones for example because WOD have 30 slot bag vs old zones?

I have never really been fond of crafting in general but understand that it is there to give something else to do. That being said I think that crafted gear should be the best gear in the game particularly in end game. The regents would be drops from the dungeons and raids. Have them be bound on pickup and let crafters craft from the trade tab. This would let crafting be useful all the way through end game but not let the AH be the source for end game gear with doing none of the content. Dropped gear would still be good enough to get you to the next tier but the best gear would be crafted.

Yes! Multiple craftable sets that can get bonuses from other professions. I've been wanting something similar for a very long time.

I believe that weapon oils were made by enchanters, not alchemists.

What I noticed and like about inscription is the items you showed required just a few inks (5, 7 and the like). It was a pain in the butt to farm 50 or more each of two or more inks inks in the last few expansions. Of course, I’m hoping they didn’t make it exponentially hard to farm herbs and make inks to make just as much of a grind.

I'd be happy if, with this armor reagent system, they introduced new reagents with new content patches that allow the craftsmen to whip up starter gear for that content for anyone who might want it. I also wouldn't be opposed to Bind on Pick Up sets for the crafter themselves being quite literally at the baseline Normal/Mythic 0/PVP Season standard for that content patch. Hell maybe even make it entirely upgradeable with unique skins and models made from rewards they can earn in endgame content. Anyone willing to go through the tedium of MMO crafting can have a bit of love for it from where I'm sitting. Dealing with that level of boredom is hard mode.
