Also the black screen is very annoying, I thought I had something wrong with my PC/monitor :-) Get better, the content is very good.

I doubt someone will read this, but here's my 2c about mass importing in ANKI: it is possible using automation program. To explain it simply: Convert pdf of chess puzzle to png format (some websites can do it), crop each puzzle from each image (use python), save the result to ANKI media folder, make a csv file containing image name (use python), and finally import it to ANKI.

I feel like comparing it to words isn’t a good analogy but if we stick with that it seems like picking some words and reading them in the same sentences over and over instead of reading them in new contexts to learn them. Reading the same book over and over instead of reading new books to help learn a language. I just don’t know why doing the same puzzles would be better or more efficient. If you solve 10 different Anastasias mates would that not cement the idea just as well if not better than doing the same anastasias mate? Feels like ultimately no one knows.

Yes exactly, that's why I really like Chessimo, it also repeats the puzzles itself. you get new puzzles and old puzzles. chessimo has tactics, endgame strategy training and more.

Several months ago I came up with a similar idea: I wanted to make my own SRS app where I could implement some chess positions and then shuffle them, and user could see the position and make a move... It's like on GothamChess' site Chessly where you can shuffle all (or only chosen) the opening positions.

Great video. I use exactly the same system (Anki cards) except with lichess links instead of screenshots and text answers.

There's an option called "interactive lesson" in lichess study, which basically quizzes you on whaterever you put in. It's clunky cause it requires a second lichess account for setting up the study, but I got used to it. I also drill my openings this way - the chessable courses are too damn expensive

Chess Tempo custom sets can be trained using SRS in Chess Tempo itself. And those sets can be created using personal tags. It seems to me that basically combines both of here solutions into one. It does require a paid CT account, but it's a site worth supporting and, a bonus for some of us, is useful for we Mac users.

I added the anki deck but,… what’s the difference with a normal lichess tactics? In the anki I don’t know the motif that I can see in lichess. It looks anki does not repeat a motif like you said is the best way to learn: they are random. Of course anki has the repetition that is a good thing

for my part, I download the PNGs of the puzzles I've had trouble with and then insert them into a study chapter I have on lichess. Lichess does this automatically for platform puzzles too.

The best type of tactics training is the one that you actually do. Repetition and woodpecker stuff is boring as hell

I believe the reason for random puzzles is that I game you won’t know what you’ll get and you train the solving part as much as the tactical pattern recognition

I believe the best way to learn tactics is technically via the minigames taught by Andrew Trattner and Momir Radović (starting with Rooks vs. Bishops). However, I suspect that this requires having a human opponent (oftentimes a coach) as well as an understanding of the extent to which the minigames would be useful (especially when the learner in question is already familiar with classic chess). At any rate, your approach is probably the best for gaining familiarity with specific tactical combinations/configurations.

Is there a software or website that trains chess tactics like this: when you are doing tactical questions, every move is made by yourself, including the opponent's footwork is made by you (do not come out by the software or computer, so that you can think of countermeasures from the perspective of the other party). After you think you have finished answering, click Submit or Confirm, and then the software or computer will show all the correct answers, and compare them with your answering process one-on-one, so that the training effect may be better!

interesting video, though I got chessable. For the convenience, as you can train on laptop and phone. At the amateur level probably drilling basics from basic books are good enough I think.

I had a 700 rating online, and I trained a little bit of everything, I read books, I learned openings, I trained like crazy, and I never saw any gain, it only got worse, when I discovered that in my rating range the ideal is to train tactics, and I also saw about this repetition technique, I started to train tactics, and do repetitions in LucasChess, honestly, I don't understand how this helps, but I quickly went up to 1100 rating in a very short time, thank you very much for this video, it helped me a lot!!!
