This is why Mike Maloney says only gold and silver are money. He is referring to the U.S. Constitution. Anything else is currency or not granted as such, even platinum, palladium, and rhodium. Though they carry a monetary value these metals, in accordance with the U.S. Constitution, are not Legal Tender. Most egregiously, Central Banks have ignored this fundamental rule with debt-based Paper Currencies.

Also it won't scale properly because transaction fees and confirmation times are exponential the more popular it gets. It also encourages GPU/ASIC mining which only large corporations can buy into. If you do want a crypto, it's Monero. Anonymous, penny fees, and fixes the scaling issues of bitcoin. It's also resistant to GPU/ASIC mining, which means it's inherently more decentralized and fair to the common man. It's anonymous to the point of federal cases against people using it to launder money can't even state how much they actually have in their wallet.

Bitcoin as a store of value, being the "first" or "seed" for other crypto is a possibility. Nick Szbao invented it around 2005 and originally called it "bit gold" which more accurately describes it. Bitcoin is a proof of concept. Monero is the practical application of it.

As far as future investment of coins? Any coin that is post-quantum computing secure. I know there's at least one out there. It is likely to become very value. Main issue with crypto is you need power and internet. It's the ultimate intangible currency.
