Many moons ago (sounds better than "Once upon a time...."), my brother Jerry and I were sidekicks for a fictional cowboy by the moniker of MARK TRUE! Every Saturday morning at WTTV Channel Four, Mark in his cowboy outfit complete with white Stetson hat and matching Colt 45's would narrate old cowboy movies (Johnny Mack Brown, Whip Wilson, Hoot Gibson, Allen Rocky Lane, etc) and Jerry and I would sing and play cowboy songs. Mark had an act with his wife (cannot remember his or her names!!!) that included us for grade school children featuring safety tips for guns, fire, smoke, telephone emergencies. It was lots of fun back then. Too old to do that stuff now as Jerry and I are up in our 80's and probably could not get onto a horse without a forklift. Oh yes....September 27th 19887 was the commemoration of our parents 50th wedding anniversary! This was held at Jerry and Jody's Dodd farm in Martinsville, Indiana not far from big town of Wilbur. We had a cookout and pitch-in with all our friends and relatives in the back yard....over 100 people showed up! Jerry and I (the Dodd Brothers) were the entertainment! Lordy, it was fun! I pray that you-all enjoy our playing as well. Oh one other thing: the last song "Run Mustang Run" is one Jerry and I wrote as a protest song against the wanton slaughter of mustangs back then. Open range cattlemen did not want the mustangs mixing with their blooded stock and eating their grass that was needed for their cattle. So they would herd them into a pen, shoot them, and a meat wagon would pick up the carcasses. take them to a meat processing plant, and turn them into dog food.
