That was the best version ever...top actors and thoroughly enjoyable listening...thanks for sharing.. kind regards Dave 😉👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьHahaha Bill Hayden ‼️we here in Australia 🇦🇺 once had a federal politician of the same name 🧐.
ОтветитьGreat version
Quality quality
Gary Oldman was a brilliant George smiley in the most recent film though
Do you have Smiley's People with Bernard Hepton as Smiley? It used to be here until it was taken down.
ОтветитьBernard Hepton as George Smiley. Percy is
James Grout?
An extended play . . . and excellent.
ОтветитьThis is a fantastic abridged version. Would it be possible to get the credits?
ОтветитьYeah! Fantastic Author and fantastic Audio version. Is it Christmas ??
ОтветитьIn a genre with so much absolute dross, this and Smiley's People are up there with anything. The BBC series of both with Alec Guiness is everything the BBC should aspire to. The drama produced nowadays is very poor on the whole, even the stuff that wins awards.
ОтветитьThe bbc radio drama with Simon Russell Beale as Smiley was the best version I have heard.
Simon is so natural.
I'd like to see Simon Russell Beale as George Smiley
ОтветитьMost over rated drama series of last 30 years. Confirms that
British Intelligence was simply an exclusive old school tie
club for upper crust herberts . A complete waste of tax payers money . They failed to predict or prevent any significant event since 1945. Epitomises everything that's
wrong with Britain.
Loved it 🥰
Ответить1.59 damn, this is such a fantastic adaptation and production so far.
ОтветитьI'm not certain but I think this is the right cast list:
George Smiley: Bernard Hepton
Percy Alleline: James Grout
Toby Esterhase: Charles Kay
Roy Bland: William Simons
Bill Haydon: Edward de Souza
Control: Alan MacNaughtan
Lady Anne Smiley: Sarah Lawson
Jim Prideaux: Denis Lill
Sam Collins: Terrence Hardiman
Bryant: Michael Tudor Barnes
Foreign Office clerk: Peter Craze
Meakin: Laurence Payne
Secretary: Zelah Clarke
Oliver Lacon: John Quayle
The BBC TV series was superlative and I've always been fond of it. This radio programme though, well - I have my imagination and mind's eye to rely on. Nothing beats the mind's eye. I can't help thinking though that George Smiley is Bernard Hepton's character Toby Esterhausè (sp?) from the telly series!
ОтветитьHa, £4 for a taxi .... when was this made, 1950?
ОтветитьIt's speeded up
ОтветитьWho's the clever boots ?
ОтветитьBroadcast on BBC Radio 4 in August 1988

Bill Haydon: Edward de Souza

Sam Collins: Terrence Hardiman
Bryant: Michael Tudor Barnes
Foreign Office clerk: Peter Craze
Meakin: Laurence Payne
Secretary: Zelah Clarke
Oliver Lacon: John Quayle
RIP Terrence Hardiman.
ОтветитьNever tire of this, wonderful version ❤
ОтветитьWhat great writing
Decent narrators
The greatest Toby plays a solid George in a mediocre adaptation.
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьBernard Hepton also played Toby in the TV version
ОтветитьHa! No matter how good the source material, every radio drama has dialogue that no person would ever say say in real life. Everything unseen is over-explained in the dialogue, and it's tiresome. "Oh, hallo - who are you coming into the door out of the taxi that's just pulled up?" Okay, I'm exaggerating for effect. But it patronises the listener. and makes the narrative very clunky. If anyone doubts this, try listening to a good drama on television without looking at it. It's so much more realistic because that's how people really behave. And your imagination does the rest.
Ответить❤ the thumbnail
ОтветитьWhen was this made?
ОтветитьGreat drama, closed my eyes and just listened 😊
