I’ll retire in ten years and over the course of my working life, I’ll have averaged probably 75k per year. I don’t feel like a shmuck, or a loser. The global median salary is probably something like 10k per year. So in my opinion, even with my rather humble condominium, I still feel lucky. Mr. Galloway pities people like me a little too much. I wouldn’t exactly say someone making 75k per year is suffering or dying a slow death.

You’re responsible for your own happiness. I still think the USA is a land of opportunity; you just need to look in the right places. Furthermore, you have to be hungry and do what it takes to achieve your goals. The ability to act is what separates people. If you don’t act, you’re just making excuses. It’s our purpose to make the most of our lives, just as nature intended.

Not 100% true. When I was still on dating apps, I was in that 10%. Actually the 6’+, good looking, have game, lead a very interesting active life… I still got ignored, ghosted, dumped with little/no explanation, and fought for more than half the matches and dates I did get. It was a full time job on top of my other 3ish full time jobs & endless side hustles & support roles. The dating app game is stacked against you just like crapps or poker. Point is: Everyone is an individual, and not everyone will like you. You just have to be sure and secure within you of what it is you like and who you really are, and be willing to attract the ones that are in alignment with that. That goes for friends and partners.

Find me a start up that’s not backed by crazy amount of outside investors, is created by non technical founders, is based in a small town, etc.. the system was created by the top 1%, to secure a future for their kids. Nothing has people clenching their pearls more than the fear their kids won’t be successful.

Money wont buy happiness, for sure, but its what people value, so we change those values, and we're good man. Theres always been the top 10%, or the top 1%, but social media has made it seam everything is great and fun, its a lie sold to you by the big guys that convince you to let yourself hatred take over your logic. Be happy, ignore people who don't want to be around you for you, the time I wasted doing something to keep up with the jones was stupid, I should have done what I wanted, not them, its BS. There are also people in the top 10% or top 1% of ability who want to do things other than hoard money, and this is becoming increasingly hard to do.

Find some activities that you love, its easy to be satisfied.

English guy here, the Left's abandonment of economics in favour of identity politics is a huge fail for the human race.

What is he complaining about? Everyone is dying a slow death. There is no guarantee that you will live to be 90, or that you will hold onto the money that you do make.

It seems that this chap wants to redistribute the wealth until reality lines up with his vague ideas about what is fair.

The point of America is not to give everyone "a shot at being in the 10%" and it wasn't that way when he was growing up. When he was growing up, being in the 90% felt just fine. (Well, OK, maybe in the top 3/4 of the 90%.)

im an average guy, got my pluses and minuses, but wouldnt ever put my salary on dating apps, and was honest about everything. never got matched. i did okay meeting and dating irl, and deleted all the apps. if all i have to offer is money and my blue cross card women can get f-d. update, reconnected with an old flame, weve never been happier

Good point. More and more our society makes everything binary. It is a rigid orthodoxy caused by fear. I came of age in the 1970s, an era shaped by optimism and a sense of adventure. Now I see a siciety shaped by fear and a sense of resentment. Time to make the adjustments needed to out inhuman economic system.

The problem with the top 10 percent is that they are not getting rich from inventing something they are getting rich from selling to the bottom 90 %.
