In this video I discuss how I decide whether to buy a raw card or an already graded card when buying for my personal collection. This is decided by mainly factors, most importantly price and card age.

Welcome to my empire! (or at least the humble beginnings of one) This is Empire of Assets where I am documenting my journal building an “empire” though many different channels including traditional investments like stocks and real estate, but largely focusing on alternative investments like cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and collectibles. I do a little bit of everything but my main focus is trading cards: including sports (football, basketball, baseball, and UFC), Pokemon, and other games like Flesh and Blood and Metazoo.
My Pokemon investing and collecting revolves around two major themes; sealed collecting which I view similar to a 401K or stock portfolio, where the goal is to invest and build a position slowly over time and play the long game for 5, 10, or 20 years and my “flipping” business where I buy entire collections, grade the best cards, and resell for a profit. This is currently a slow system (because of the extremely long grading times at PSA) that will take at least a year to see major returns but can also be the most profitable way to make money in cards.
