I've listened to Julian a lot on his recordings and this guitar certainly is not the equivalent of his main instruments (Collings JL 470, original blackguard tales, nacho tales - modded with Ron Ellis pickups). The sound here is thinner than what he achieves through his much more expensive instruments. These player ii guitars are really nicely done for the money, but if I bought one, there would be a set of Seymour Duncan or Ron Ellis pickups that would follow and maybe a pot upgrade. The pedals definitely enhance the tone nicely.

One of my favorite Telecaster players is Red Volkaert. If you've never heard of him you should definitely look him up. His style is sort of like if jazz and 50s country had a baby.

Yes! We all know a Tele plays Stairway to Heaven (clean and dirty), but having Julian show how faaaaaar these things stretch is a WIN! Would love to see him demo an LP too lol.

It sounds phenomenal. But I am highly sceptical that this is the guitar that you can buy in the shops or if they made a special version for Julian. Maybe it's his fingers that make it sound so good. But Fender doesn't sell those.

Julian Lage Signature tele is needed. Warm, sweet and articulate P90 or Humbucker in the neck on a blackguard with narrow tall or jumbo fret. 😁

Well that was the review I needed on this guitar, maybe it was the playing but sold.

This is a free master class on Telecaster sounds, When Julian plays the guitar, it becomes the piano.

Julian is top of the tops; as others have said this is a master class at every level. First demo ever that I watch in full, no fast forwards or closing it earlier ( and I have probably watched hundreds if not more). Throughly enjoyable! Good job GC!

JL could convince me to buy literally any guitar if he wanted lol. but for real . i am so close to pulling the trigger on one and seeing the master review one is not helping my financial prospects. between him and frisell they are the tele kings these days in my mind.

The quality is absolutely amazing for an instrument at this price point. The quality of the guitar is on par with my USA strat from '06. It has modern specs, which I prefer, and don't feel the need to upgrade anything. Maybe a pickup swap in the future, but these pickups sound good

If Julian ever was forced to stop playing he would have a good fallback career in sales. Upon watching this video I immediately put in an order for a Player II. Excellent video presentation all around.
