You know what sucks? Switch 2 1st party digital/physical copies will rarely ever go below the new price tag. Switch 2 gen will probably come and go before that happens 😅
ОтветитьI’d learn to live with the 80 dollar price point as the standard if games didn’t constantly release half baked and messy. It’s one thing to get a severely polished title for 80. It’s another entirely to get a buggy mess that looks pre-alpha still.
ОтветитьThey can keep charging $70 and $80, but retailers will always always have sales.
ОтветитьAt the current price market for some games becoming $80 dollars and cost of living expense going up, I'm going to hold off on buying day 1 games and anything else day 1 when it comes to video games. In the mean time I'll just work on my backlog of games and what not.
Ответитьso checked out already. i skipped the entire wii, and wii u generation when they went all in with their bad motion control ideas. 80 dollar non-physical games is their new bad idea.
ОтветитьToo many young little idiots in this hobby who are ok with it being $80 because it isn’t their $80, it is their parents. They speak of dumb justifications like inflation without even understanding it, and they say things like “N64 games were $80, so why are you complaining now?” All you have to do is do the math yourself. 5 million times 60 is 300 million. 5 million copies sold is nothing for a well made game nowadays. Elden ring sold over 20 million. Mario kart 8, over 68 million. You do the math. The increase from $60 to $80 is pure greed. If the budget to make a game has ballooned, that isn’t the customer’s fault to pay for, that is the company’s fault. To answer the second dumb point I’m seeing bandied around, n64 games cost $80, I never once payed $80 for an n64 game, and unlike these little troglodytes trying to justify the $80 price point, my parents didn’t buy games for me. They didn’t believe in it, so they made me buy every game I wanted with my own money. This $80 game price increase can very easily spell the end of the gaming industry, especially during this time of hyper price sensitivity
ОтветитьDo people realize that Nintendo isnt the only one doing it but since its Nintendo they're complaining loke a bunch of spoiled children 😅
ОтветитьI don't care if it's $70. or $80. I love Doom way more and I'm playing it for the price of 1 month of PC gamepass. I'll buy that when I agree with the price.
ОтветитьI can’t wait for the midnight release for switch 2. Just got a ok for the midnight at my GameStop. 😅
Ответить80 dollar - only digital - ... kart racer.... thats the first one... the first msrp 80 .... digital only ...
ОтветитьI don't have a problem with an $80 game that delivers.
I have an issue with $80 games that are not only trash but FORCED on us.
Only 80$ game I’m begrudgingly getting is Mario kart world because of being such a Nintendo fan and wanting to play that game so much.
However if I can get the bundle and not have to pay that then that’s a good way to avoid that for me
i've never paid full price for a $80 game and wait for a sale or used playstation stars to get $20 off. Best games on release are cheaper and better.
ОтветитьYOU KNOW GUYS once upon a time not everyone was a gamer, i feel like if they raise the prices people will find new hobbies and less people will game, if you can afford it thats cool I can afford it too but most people will just not buy lol these companies WILL lose money.
ОтветитьThe issue for me is still that you don't own the game. You are renting the game for $80. That is why I will never buy an $80 game. I love console but the cost of gaming has gone up to much. I am quickly going to PC. I have a rig I built for my work so there is no cost increase for me to do the switch. Steam sales, here I come.
ОтветитьWhy do we as the consumers have the front The bills for their overbloated budgets on video games? If the movie industry did that it would completely collapse because no one would go see movies cause that would be way too expensive
ОтветитьSo many options for games out there so if the prices go up, people will look elsewhere with exceptions being the best of the best. I'm not paying $70 for Mario Golf lol
ОтветитьI never bought into $70 games. I wait longer for a sale or price drop.
ОтветитьI don’t buy games at $70 if companies start selling them for $80 I’m simply not buying them. I am getting the Switch 2 with Mario Kart bundle but that basically equates to spending $50 on the game. I’ll be waiting on a lot of sales though, especially if companies like EA, Ubisoft, 2K try to sell their games at $80 and in most cases I’ll probably just buy the cheaper/free games instead. Also the cheaper games that also come on an actual cartridge/disc.
Ответитьjust pirate everything lol
Ответить$80 US 💵, over $100 🇨🇦 😢
Ответить80 is too much
Ответитьthey can increase the price all they want, money is not going to magically appear on my wallet, it doesn't matter if i'm a gamer or not, if i can't afford the product well... thats it, theres nothing i can do 🤷♂
Ответитьno wonder the industry was so eager to get rid of E3, if companys announced the price hike on stage, they would be booed out of the building
ОтветитьMy thing is this… we had games like God of War… Halo… Zelda… Uncharted… Elden Ring… The Witcher 3.. Super smash bros.. The Last of Us.. Red Dead… etc games that have a GREAT story stand alone and repeatability. Those games are polished… very little updates required. Now u have games that require a patch right after you buy them… unfinished products… DLC packages that are cosmetic or bulshit seasonal stuff… n they price them at $60…$70… or even $50. It’s dumb. Like we need to set the fkn bar as consumers… if your game isn’t on the level of those Games… it doesn’t warrant us as ppl paying $80 or even $70 for your games. Like hell no.
ОтветитьThere going to see pirateing reaching an all time high because the number one reason people do it is because they can't afford it
ОтветитьTo be honest, I don't think I'll be getting the Switch 2 anytime soon. The consumers have the power to stop these greedy practices by simply not buying. When June 5th comes and the Switch 2 units hit the store shelves, we just need to let them sit there.
Besides, we've got every video game from my Dad's Atari 2600 'till now. I think we'll be fine in terms of entertainment. Either that or we can emulate it.
Ur such a loser and hypocrite and u crapped on Nintendo and then change ur mind and u will always consume these companies and video games u will gladly suck them off and then still make hate videos.
Ответить80-100 that better be a prefect game no bugs day one!!
ОтветитьNobody is but SHOULD be talking about how we also need better regional pricing, for fucks sake your "80 dollars usd" games in Canada are 100+ that's fucking ridiculous
ОтветитьIm gonna say it but I’d rather spend $80 on a complete game than $60 on a game that is filled with micro transactions and $30 DLC.
ОтветитьGames shouldn't be 100,80 or 70 and now they're using the $80 tag to smokescreen the $70 tag up from $60. Games should be $50 to $40 maybe $60 ONLY! I don't care if it's a "premium" game or AAA, it's their job...budget the games better, if the game is good enough it'll sell.
All we're doing is giving them the greenlight to halfass what they're doing now but more expensive. They work for us not the other way around. And since we don't "own games" then digital games should be 40 to 50 because of the lack of manufacturing cost.
as much as i like nintendo games, 80 usd means it's near 120$ before taxes in canada, which means, i won't buy games as often because, EVERYTHING ELSE also costs more, things like food and basic necessities also significantly rose in price. as much as i like gaming, i can't justify spending 115-120$ on a single game, no matter how good it is. So i will stick to deep discounts on steam and GOG and maybe get one or two nintendo games per year.
ОтветитьI think at this point it’s less about how much we can afford to pay and what these companies think they need to be able to make money. It’s a conflict that cannot reach a resolution the only people who’re going to pay full price are the people who really want to play a game immediately.
ОтветитьThis could be a good thing. A lot of games are gonna release at $80 and won’t sell shit. Then they’ll just go on sale earlier.
Ответитьborderlands 4 I will 100% buy. I will probably buy whatever special edition because I love the game series. But I do agree there should be a base version of every game that's like 65 bucks. But then there should be an $80 edition with a whole bunch of cosmetics and other shit and then there should be $100 addition with the season pass for the year and then a whole bunch of cosmetics and other bullshit then if you want to do like $150 dish and that comes with the statue or some BS plus everything else. But there should be like the standard economic version that just comes with the base game and nothing else that everyone can afford and then extra shit on top of that with other editions. The base game shouldn't be 80
ОтветитьFor $60, imma be waiting for a sale.
For $70, imma be waiting for a sale.
For $80, imma be waiting for a sale.
The only difference it makes for me is how long I have to wait
Love your videos Jon!
ОтветитьIn my country an $80 game is a week and a half's worth of Groceries I'd rather eat than play.
ОтветитьThat price jumps up to over $100 here in Canada which absolutely enters it into a different thought process. Simply hitting triple digits means I'm going to think more & buy less, especially since I've got a backlog & my favorite games have been those mid-price games like Expedition 33, Ghostrunner 1 + 2 & Sifu.
ОтветитьYou want to see a change - stop buying triple A titles, stop buying things from major studios… find joy in smaller games, from smaller studios. Find hidden gems. The big studios will adjust their prices/costs, or they’ll disappear. Either way your average cost will drop
Playing games shouldn’t be an overly complicated calculation, trying to determine if we should ethically support the staff of a major company, it should just be - is this product worth it?
It’s a weird industry in that regard because you don’t hear about customers of big banks or health insurance thinking about the staff of those companies - they just recognize if something is a ripoff or not
Why is this still a topic. I dont like it either, but just don't buy it and move on. Theres literally millions of other games to play
ОтветитьCorporations and people who defend corporations don’t understand that $80 is $80. It’s not “$60 when accounting for inflation,” it’s not “games we’re technically $100 back in the day and with inflation it’s actually cheaper than games should be today,” and it’s not “games are too expensive to make to make sure the publishers make billions of dollars.” $80 is a SHIT TON of money. Cost of living nowadays makes a “normal wage” feel like living paycheck to paycheck. The average game buyer doesn’t actually have a dragon’s horde of games available and usually purchase around 4-10 games max per year. They have to consider the price, possible dlc, and the general time they’re able to commit a day. You want to know how to crash the business? Price everything out of the affordability range and oversaturate the market with said products. And before everyone says “it’s only a few games here and there,” motherfucker, that is literally not what game companies have been doing since the 9th gen launch. 90% of “AAA” games immediately went to $70 and the others which were $60 had to be dragged kicking and screaming to that price point before eventually putting their foot down on every new release. Just because some companies right now are slightly skittish about the new price points does not mean they are going to be keeping their $70 price points for very long.
ОтветитьI live in a third-world country and 80$ game discourse has taught me first-world bros are broke XD
Ответить$70 games is still brand new and now they're trying to price anchor at $80+ to get us used to the idea. I've gamed my whole life and never spent more than $60 for a standard edition game. Corporations can try to justify price hikes all they want, people can cope and say "games were expensive in the 90's", etc. Well in the 90's my family only bought 1 new game per year and spent the rest of the year borrowing games from friends and renting from Blockbuster. I guess we're going back to that pricing model where most can't own a big library. It will be all about waiting years for a sale, buying games used, or renting through a streaming service. It's just sad.
ОтветитьFor most companies, I expect to see less discounting, even as launch prices remain unchanged. Nintendo already took this approach with the Switch. For example, a $70 game that sees frequent or deep discounts over the year might average closer to $60 per unit sold. But with less discounting, that average could rise to around $65, even if the launch price stays the same.
ОтветитьI think we’re going to enter into a golden age of Indy and AA releases.
ОтветитьHere are my thoughts… get the fuck over it. $80 is not that much. Video games are a luxury. Always has been and honestly people have had it good for too long thus watering down the value of this hobby. Also, your average person easily spends $80 a week on fast food and lattes. Gamers are annoying entitled brats
ОтветитьWhen the Switch 2 releases, I’ll be buying a Steamdeck
ОтветитьRDR2 is t0 dollars. If these game is as good as RDR2 and looks as good as RDR2, then people should have no problem paying more.
People hate paying more for objectively worse games. Today, games look not better but worse then those release half a decade ago, and they are poorly optimized, and most of the time just unfinished. While old games go to sale for 80 to 90 percent off, why buy the newest game at full price?
