You all need to do a bit of woodworking with hand tools and you’ll get some experience with left-handed threads. The depth adjusters on most vintage/antique bench planes are reverse threaded. And the later types (“gen” in gun lingo) of my favorite spokeshave have one handle with reversed threads and one with standard threads. The reason doesn’t outweigh the frustration of thinking backwards just half the time when I’m restoring them.
