I played the "Indie Skyrim that Bethesda Should Learn From"

I have Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon and have been happy with it. I've put it aside, as I don't want to get burnt out before the game is done. Even at this early state, this is a fun game and I've already gotten my money's worth.

I’m gonna have to try it, I been missing morrowind/oblivion for so long now. Nothing is close.

This looks awesome. I hope all skills have the potential to synergize with each other to give build variety, such as having certain spells to buff a weapon with fire/ice etc. to go with a character that majors in melee and minors in magic.

Also, maybe melee oriented characters can still get some abilities to counter enemies that hide on perches like throwing axes. Maybe even the ability to put a gem/enchantment on them that causes them to boomerang, if it’s a throwable the player is really attached to

Personally, I think Bethesda already lost their mojo by the time Skyrim dropped. Morrowind and Oblivion were peak Elder Scrolls. And New Vegas was the only Fallout that didn't feel like a complete clone of itself

I love this game, i once had a two handed melee build where i had a sword that did Crit automatically against full health opponents and then had a skill that did 50% damage against full health opponents so I was basically 1 shooting everything i touched

Ok, and is this game actually any good or are we just here to Bethesda bash? Nothing in the video looks interesting, or better in a way that "Bethesda Shoud Learn From" it. It looks like an amateur indie game.

Awaken Realms are famous in Poland (and I hope globally too) for awesome board games. I'm really glad their efforts on the video games field are acclaimed as well.

In Skyrim a lot of the time I hardly put any points in hp. Trading blows and drinking potions is for casuals. Real gamers bait and punish.

This game looks more like evolution of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic than skyrim formula or like sth best of both worlds. This game looks awesome I hope that at full release there will be big world to explore and some npc follower/mercenery or some perma summon companion for loneliness ;) I really wonder how far they will go with implementing features and mechanics, for me the more the better

They already made a good Indie Skyrim, It's called Kingdom Come Deliverance, In fact, the amount of skill required to master the game is like trying to master a musical instrument. You cannot play any other first-person RPG after playing Kingdom Come Deliverance. I think the only way Bethesda can improve itself is by adding combat and physics effects of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic into a first-person open-world RPG. At least that's my opinion.

Im sick of the souls vibe, just feels too modern. I miss the medieval heroic epic vibes of oblivion. Im a sucker for the good guys winning, im never shocked by subversion of expectations, it's just trite and stupid.

TES (since Morrowind) is first AND third person. That's a very niche distinction that not enough people seem to remember.

The reasons games stop being good when coming from larger companies, is that they end up having too many chefs in the kitchen. You have these outside influences also flexing their money to hamper good innovative game systems. Microtransactions also come at a cost to gameplay. The only way you can fight against this, is to stop giving them your money, and instead give it to the indie devs who do not have these issues...yet.

This game might be great or it might be garbage. It's so damned dark there's no way to tell! Hey devs--a pitch-black environment isn't brooding or menacing, it's actually super annoying and makes me want to not play your game.
