TOWING WITH A TACOMA- RV (HOW TO)

Thanks for your video! I really prefer a Tacoma over a Tundra. I'm getting a truck and trailer in a couple of weeks and I've been trying to see if there's any way I can get away with the Tacoma. Your trailer is just about what I'm looking for, so totally excited your truck is pulling it ok :)

Liking the videos thanks for the update on the towing. I have a 2019 Taco and just bought a 26ft TT and towed it 197 miles from the dealer home. I installed the electronic brake controller myself before picking it up and the dealer threw in the distribution hitch with the trailer. It was a bit scary at first but the Taco did well. I had to roll over some pretty big mountain passes in central PA out by State College I also had to deal with a super windy day which made me hold that wheel a bit tighter. One thing I also got was the backup camera for the trailer so I can see who is coming up behind me.

Thanks for your video, I’m towing a 24ft Ultra light and have all the safety equipment you mention other than poor gas mileage it fine for me to drive no more than 300 miles from my central florida home which its all flat.

You need to get a D-4D 4 cylinder turbo diesel bro!! You can tow more and your mpg is still that of a unloaded tacoma with a V6!! Also you need the Bruder XP6 camper trailer man, way better then your springdale camper!!

We just bought a 2014 Tacoma, our first truck. What year is yours and how heavy was the trailer? We are upgrading our tiny tent trailer but trying to figure out how big to go. I’ve always gone easy on my vehicles and equipment, I prefer them to last.

Set your cruise control, it will keep the truck at constant speed.

Have you checked the weight at the hitch receiver/distribution hitch? (Tongue weight)

You towing in Drive or 4th gear?

I got a 2012 Nissan Frontier rear wheel drive 4.0 46 I believe towing capacity is 7,000ibs think It could tow a trailer your size?

It can move the trailer fine. But It’s definitely a 1/2 ton size trailer. Tacoma is too light and wheelbase is too short.

Just found your video. Just picked up my 2021 SR5 V6 4WD. My camper is small and light at 1390 unloaded. Did you tow in Drive mode or “S” mode. I’m getting mixed signals. Manual says not to tow in “D”. Others say if it doesn’t hunt gears in Drive keep it in “D”. What are your thoughts? BTW, great video.

Don't use the left lane to drive in or you probably will get lights flashed at you may be even blue lights

Thank you so much! I’m looking to trade out of my 2015 CX 9 so I can pull an approx 4000 lb load with around 500 lbs tongue weight. My Mazda would be outmatched. I had a 2005 Tacoma and LOVED it and that’s what I’m considering... a used Tacoma with towing package. Thanks so much - this video is very helpful. And I’m glad I’m not the only one who has the grip of death on my steering wheel when towing ANYTHING!! I’ve seen flipped and jackknifed rigs... it really scares me.

So my 2012 Tacoma Prerunner, V6 ( NO 4WD ) states it can only tow 3500, how are you able to tow closer to the 5000 range

I have a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Looking at getting a trailer. 🤠. Looking at trailers 3000 to 3500 lbs max. With room for me my wife and 3 kids. Que the mission impossible music.

Do you pull it with the water in the fresh water tank

So I’ve been searching for similar info. 2008 taco trd off road 4x4. Supposedly means I can pull 6500. The wolf pup travel trailer I’m looking at is 3879 UVW and 4999 GVWR 23’4”. So I’ll need similar gear like the weight distribution hitch and brake controller but should be fine from the sound of it.

You might want to think about NOT driving in the passing lane while you're towing! They aren't flashing you for no reason.

I have the 2014 TRD Sport with the 4.0 V6 and bought a 4,000 pound travel trailer and it make that truck scream it struggled so bad ! We had to trade the travel trailer back and trade it in for a motor home ! I'm telling you if you have a Toyota Tacoma I wouldn't dare pull over 2,500 pounds with the truck ! Don't make my Mistake !!!!

I have a 2019 double cab v6 that is good for towing up to 6400 pounds but here is the kicker. The manual says they do not recommend towing a single axel RV that is more than 3000 pounds. I can’t go to a double axle because that exceeds the total weight limit. I am thinking what you are doing may damage the vehicle over time based on what the manual says. Please respond.

Hi, not to be mean, but you should be running the right-hand lane from an old long-distance truck driver when you're pulling a trailer.

When towing, people need to focus on payload not the amount the vehicle can tow. If you go off payload with hitch weight you will be fine. Make sure with hitch weight and cargo you are below payload.
