Mommy tasha really has something for everyone...for me it's order of scribes and college of creation bard but 2 of my friends already ran this subclass to level 8

Fun challenge, for both fellow viewers and of course Nerdarchy themselves can take it up if they want.

Rebalance the Mystic so that it isn't still "broken" compared to the classes that are out.
Optional bonus challenge: limited to subclasses that were not repurposed into the psionics subclasses that became official.

Example: the capstone's DC requirement being changed to a higher number or even requiring you to roll an exact number instead of just "10 or higher".

The big add that you mentioned for the aberrant mind and the clockwork soul sorcerer is their spell list is added to their known list turning their 15 spells at 20th into 25 and they can swap those 10 aberrant mind spells at level up to more useful spells from the greater sorcerer/wizard/warlock spell list as long as its still divination or enchantment(abjuration/transmutation for clockwork). 25 known spells is more than a bards the previous champ of the known spell casters. 25 known is about what the wizard will be preparing at 20th level. It actually makes the sorcerer a good class. The other abilities are nifty, but don't compare to this at at all. Hands down the best sorcerer ability out of all the sub classes. I agree warping explosion is hugely disappointing for level 18 especially when compared to the clockworks 18th clockwork cavalcade. But this is a very impressive subclass easily standing up next to the soul knife or psi warrior.

I have to say this is one of the more powerful sorcerer subclasses. The ability to not just cast spells for even sorcery points to spell level as well as to do it with subtle spell is big. And the flight feature with no concentration and other Revelations of Flesh are going to see great use in those games at that level. Extra spells are good and if you swap them out right it is very effective. This subclass could go toe to to with a Wizard and win. Pretty powerful, good theme and lots of flavors. If we are not getting a Psionics class this is almost an acceptable substitute.

I really like this subclass. Back in 3.5, the first prestige class I wanted to try was the Alientist and this subclass echoes it even better than the 3rd edition version. Summoning an aberrant creature, getting gross and gooey, gaining some maddening power. I like it!

I would love to multiclass this with an Echo Knight!

Abberant mind is has the option to twin dissonant whispers which I find very powerful and a free mind sliver which is an absolute must for any sorcerer.

mix it with Grim Hollow books and become an aberration from those books :D

They really missed an opportunity here, they should have called it, "Deviant Mind."

It seems odd that both the Psi Warrior and the Soulknife use Psionic Energy dice, but the Aberrant Mind does not.

I really like the flavor of this subclass! I have a warforged who was a literal statue in a mindflayers flying castle who was dropped by adventurers and now is disconected from the hivemind and starts to developt his own

This is one of my favorite classes. Built in subtle Meta-magic. Be a Drow Elf and take Drow High Magic... Spells & Spells & Spells... Get hold of a +1 Bloodwell vile (uncommon item)

The only thing as good is when a friendly DM allows for 5 or 6 theme spells for a Draconic Sorcerer.

I love the sorcerer and this is my favourite subclass by far.
Using psionic spell and twinning a tashas mind whip or hideous laughter, or dominate person at higher level, can't counter it if you can't see it being cast. Yes please...

I think they missed the boat here. In the past, psionics was a separate and different discipline with it's own offensive and defensive capabilities, specialized rules, etc. Psionics in 5e is just new spells. You should not be able to Counterspell a psionic attack.

The added spells known that you can trade out with the Tasha's Sorcerers puts them on a whole different level of game play.

Since you can cast spells without converting you are more efficient with them
Also it says on that last of which you can change to any divination or enchantment so say suggestion you can use suggestion as people think you can even in a social situation

Replacing spells from the list you don’t want, then cast THOSE spells without components… alter memories with no tells?

Take shadow touched and roll play you are taking power from your twin in the shadowfell

One can only hope a psion class will be in the PHB2 🙏

Using psionic casting you can cast tashas mind whip or hold person and expand all 6 sorcery points to target up to 5 creatures I think, it’s insane!

120 foot radius at 18th level doing 3d10 to every creature in that space that fails their strength check, that’s a TON of damage

The imagery friend idea reminds me of Jodie and Aiden from "Beyond: Two Souls."

I like that introducing psionics through subclasses indicates a narrative of growing psionic ability across the board as a prelude to a core class

I've made an elderly, senile drow sorcerer with the symbiote dark gift and Aberrant Mind subclass for a Domains of Dread campaign and he's been a blast to play. The flavor of having this mindflayer symbiote give you your abilities that could also take you over someday makes for some good role play. Instead of rolling to be charmed by the symbiote occasionally, he makes me roll to resist the urge to feed on enemy brains. It makes my psionic themed spells a little stronger but it makes the symbiote more powerful as well. Very fun dynamic!

This is the #2 Sorcerer in power. No question. Extra spells make it so without ANY features else.

Personally, I always felt the Sorcerer was a very underwhelming class. All the subclasses have great flavor, but with so few spells, I always felt like I had to take the blaster type spells, but this gives so much utility...now they need to go and fix the other subclasses

Yo I spent the first year of our campaign as a druid child who spoke to his "Spirit friends" in his dreams, but only if he was sleeping outside... It was kind of useful, they would give us hints and tips about the world

I spoke to my DM about wanting to multi-class into sorcerer, specifically this subclass, and he got excited, said that if I did I had to take that origin, that I got it from my imaginary friend lol

Psionic Sorcery makes it able for me to homebrew Obsidian Dragonborns as they like fire and psionic stuff. Basically a red dragonborn that's Obsidian gem colored using psionic. Perfect for flavor
