As things currently stand, the integrity of the dominant neo-liberal political ideology of our times remains seemingly incontrovertible, due to the fact that the enfranchised 0.02% are removed from experiencing any of the negative consequences of the system that represents their interests alone, while promoting the contrary notion that neo-liberalism represents the fundamental tenets of modern democratic thinking: liberty, equality and fraternity; also enabling the elite to hide their exploitative practices behind the smokescreen of bringing freedom to the down-trodden masses of the world. The project of democratic freedom is the modern colonial equivalent of the European civilising mission, but the more collaborative nature of neo-liberal colonialism in tandem with the more sophisticated forms of propaganda used post WWII. Consequently, I fear that this modern form of faceless colonialism will have far more serious consequences for the future of our world than the earlier European colonial project.
