Fantastic information 👍🏻
ОтветитьYeah
ОтветитьI'm a Sorts Nutritionist and met Asker a few weeks back at the annual SENr conference. Nice guy and really knows his stuff.
I'm an endurance cyclist and love trying new events and pushing my body. Every aspect comes into play when wanting to perform or endure literally days on the bike.
Always seek qualified advice. There is so much misinformation out there it's scary, and you don't want things to go wrong on race/event day.
Good luck and enjoy riding everyone 👍
I bought a bike off Asker when he was at The University of Birmingham. Good to see him offering his level of expertise.
ОтветитьCan you do a video on Keto diet while cycling ?
ОтветитьLove Emma, her job is always great !
ОтветитьThis is really good info. Asker should feature in many more episodes :)
ОтветитьGreat info GCN thankyou to you all. I love banana as a fuel.
Tracey 😊
Has anyone done five days on a bike before? If so, any suggestions?
ОтветитьGreat advice from the professor; thanks ;-)
ОтветитьGood job Emma 👍
ОтветитьEvery time Emma looks at the camera take a shot. Every "yes, ya or yep" take a shot. You're welcome.
ОтветитьExcellent!
ОтветитьWatching GCN motivates me to train consistently in the summer.
Ответить"What food to take on a 14 kg road bike " simple Legs you are going to need them. Do not eat potatoes when you train that is the worst food you can eat as your body will not know what to do with all that starch. Went out today to do a 40 km sprint and drank only at certain points on the bike computer in order to maximize my legs to battle 20 kmh winds for the 40 km . Very windy here as I live next to the Great Lakes.
ОтветитьGood video, but I'm dreading the pseudo-expert cyclists BSing me about DNA testing and nutrigenomics.
ОтветитьHaile G was the King
ОтветитьGlucose and fructose. .... that's sugar.
ОтветитьSo without a team car how do I carry all those gels? Seriously what do I carry for a 7 hour event? Usually feed zones are disappointing in their offerings although they vary a lot
ОтветитьHow do we find core?
ОтветитьIronically too much caffeine puts me to sleep.....! 💤 💤 💤
ОтветитьIs it just me, or is this stuff pure gold. Information from the horses mouth of someone who really knows, as opposed to conjecture and speculation. I had to stop eating my omelette at one point to make sure I didn't miss anything 😂 Big thanks to Asker for his participation and willingness to share this information. Big thanks to Emma for the interview. Ride On! Tim
ОтветитьWant I really want to know is what is correct way to eat a Kit Kat! 😂
ОтветитьFond memory of an article by Dr. Chet Kyle I believe, at Penn St., early 1980's. Dr. Kyle divided a group of elite endurance athletes into two groups; one was fed high nutrition low fat diet the other basically anything they wanted, including ice cream. After six months the "ice cream" group outperformed the controlled group on the exit test! Dr. Kyle was "quick" to remind the reader that these were "high performance endurance athletes" burning over 6,000 calories a day. His warning; "don't try this at home". My take away, eat what you want and ride!!!! Great video GCN!
ОтветитьOn my usual ride I don't take any food with me . On a longer ride, or a ride which has challenging terrain, I have used gels, muesli bars, and I have also carried some jelly beans or similar, in case of emergency for a fairly instant sugar hit. Obviously on all rides I take at least one bottle of water...
ОтветитьPresenting tip: stop looking at the camera. When talking to the viewers that's fine, look at the camera. However, it just looks unnatural when you are talking to each other, but not looking at each other be because you are looking at camera.
ОтветитьI don't know why but I just think Emma is not a good moderator ... MATT come please BACK!!!!
ОтветитьGreat video, thanks Emma, like the sticky tape on the top tube idea!..........
ОтветитьI can't handle solid foods while riding hard. Fruit/veggie smoothie about 30-45 minutes prior. Then, into the ride, a gel about every 40-45 minutes. I usually take a bottle of water and another with watered down Gatorade. If riding a century, I stop at 2-3 of the rest stops to eat half a banana and maybe an oatmeal cookie at each stop and refill my bottles.
Ответитьliterally just what durianrider has been preaching for years lol, i.e. when limiting factors start to appear that bring down your performance (like absorption rate etc) that table sugar is the solution. Everyone's acting like this is new information just because it's on GCN. No hate to GCN, they're just presenting what the experts are saying, but the average cyclist needs to get their shit together
ОтветитьShe's absolutely lost in interview... But the guest is so great that she simply doesn't matter... Very good subject!
ОтветитьThis is the most informative GCN nutrition video to date.
ОтветитьKeep these nutrition videos coming, I love learning more about it
ОтветитьTom Dumoulin had the infamous nature’s call at last year’s Giro due to fructose..... then again he DID win the Giro anyway lol
ОтветитьI found Asker's information was very helpful
ОтветитьSo he says that he always advises do NOT go higher than 60g carb per hour, then GCN put a graphic on screen telling you to AIM for 60-90g carb per hour!
ОтветитьGreat job guys!
ОтветитьEmma... Please stop looking at the camera so weirdly...
ОтветитьIn Dutch, the professor has a real funny last name, but what a great guy! Thanks professor for sharing your knowledge.
ОтветитьThanks for this great segment. Asker is excellent and lets us know when he DOESN'T know the answer. I think emmas is awesome and I also miss Matt. (It is time to have a woman host.)
ОтветитьSo has anyone used Core?
ОтветитьGreat video and very timely! I could listen and learn to Dr. AJ all day. I typically eat gels when I ride...first ingredient maltodextrin, then water, then fructose. He obviously knows his stuff as demonstrated by most of his answers being it depends on X, Y, Z. We all want an easy answer, such as take this pill or eat that, but it’s way more complicated than that. Emma, I’ve had a DNA test done (mainly for genealogy, but with limited health info) and I do have the genes that respond well to caffeine! Woo - hoo!
Ответитьever since I found pork sratchings ( a real english delicacy) are 50% protein I now have my preferred fuel
ОтветитьPlease GCN presenter, don't look into the camera or at the camera guy when Asker talks, look at him.
ОтветитьWhat about the genome of your gut bacteria? Obviously the bacteria in your gut will play a huge role in nutrient absorption.
ОтветитьI'd like to hear his take on Hydration and which products and product components to look for as well as electrolytes for training rides and or general hydration. I think there are a lot of garbage products out there with fancy marketing schemes for sales and not based on science or research, thank you for the video. Well done.
ОтветитьEMMA!!!!
ОтветитьAs a physician, age grouper and nerd, I could listen to the Professor all day.
Ответить2 legends with PhDs. Freaking awesome!
ОтветитьWhat food do you take with you on your bike ride?
Ответить
