Bro, one time I was shooting on the ARRI and the ND got stuck half way over the sensor. After that it didn't go back.

ОтветитьI’m sorry the Arri does not look 25k plus better. And yes I love how The Arri looks. But, all of these comments seemed a little too over the top like the Red’s image is just sooo bad. Dynamic range etc. please stop.. You can make the Red look identical to the Arri. There are plenty of Hollywood films that were shot using both cameras. That means you don’t lose your either way. Not trying to be offensive, just non bias to film making tools that are both really amazing.

Arri literally copied then improved upon what RED INVENTED.
Now for less than 5% the cost of quality film cameras. Indy filmmakers can compete able to produce full Hollyweird quality for thousands vs literal millions required to shoot in film.
Thank you Jim Jannard for allowing true talented artists who aren’t filthy rich now express their art right alongside the mega million studios. Clearly it’s about talent today more than ever not budget. So cool.

Makes me wonder how much of ARRI's color is simply their perceptual rendering intent for the color space transforms.. obviously the curves are extremely different between these cameras and the RED looks more ungraded.

ОтветитьIts not even close imo. The way Arri cameras handle colors and dynamic range really separates their cameras to other cameras in the market.
ОтветитьPicked ARRI automatically! ARRI clearly the winner! Tech wise: Save your post time - just rent the ARRI Mini cam and the better lenses lenses. Budget $10k day from shoot to edit, sync?

ОтветитьI actually like the red camera shots a lot better personally, but the Arri would have a lot more flexibility in post. I just think the red camera shots look better out of camera. Realistically for using either of these cameras you’re not using the direct image out of camera you’re going to the grading it and the Ari is going to be significantly better in those situations

ОтветитьFor me as a person never had big contact with film making its crazy that both cameras look sooo different. I always thought the netflix series just were graded very different now i know its because they mostly use the red camera with this special color theme. Crazy that they have this characteristic and not just try to be as nartural as possible.

ОтветитьI could actually kinda tell, which one was the ARRI mostly because of the very slight green tint and brighter appearance compared to the RED.

ОтветитьHey! :) would you still use the alexa mini in 2024 ? i can not afford the lf and the normal alexa lf is too big for me ... but the mini looks nice imo

ОтветитьIn terms of the outcome of light, you are going to get a cinematographer who will be drawn towards Arri more because of concern of output. You will always hear the word easy in terms of Arri. This is a marketing feature and should be something RED focuses on as the personalities of old shooters and the younger ones, do not wish to have patience with early models of digital cameras. The risk and lack of time management is too high on set. This is why they shoot on Arri among other reasons.

ОтветитьI prefer the shot of the ARRI camera. It has better coloring and details especially no noise in darker scenes.

Red for anything else
Main way we can tell the difference is
Red has very dark shadows specially on face
While arri done its best to maintain a good dynamics range whicb improves the face and skin tones
ARRI wins anyday
Ответитьwere getting close to 7 years after the video was posted and yes, 8k Is still relevant to this day. it is in fact kind of a standard for super high end cameras but were still not abandoning 4k any time soon. so id say it'll stay relevant for at least another 3 yeas making it 10 years which is impressive.
