Yes faster firing rate can be good, but can the barrel take the strain of faster firing rate. There are limitations of how much stress and heat the material can take. It can significantly decrease the longevity of the barrels and can lead to critical failure. But I'm not an expert, just throwing it out there.

I wouldn't really call this tracked gun as something really new since what actually is new about this is the design philosophy -at it's core the system is a stripped down Swedish Archer or Korean K-9. Making it cheaper and easier to maintain even under budget restraints or when inside military conflict with strained logistical chains. Naturally this system also isn't as protected as those two but heavy artillery was never supposed to be right at the front-lines to be taken out with pod-shots anyway.

Since it's more simplified design, it's also cheaper to produce and cheaper to produce = more of the same = more units to field = more bang for the buck.

It's just a caeser made in Finland in small numbers so it costs more would make more sense to buy that or archer if they want a better product for more money.

Russia fleet in the Baltic will be removed from the war pretty damn quickly regardless of this addition. Look at how their navy handled Ukraine, they took hilariously large losses against a nation with no navy. 🤣

As a Finnish I kind of hate these videos about comparing and rating how things would go in war. Why can't people, especially at this point of time -> Russia try out just live in peace with everyone. Thanks a lot Putler. Now I'll leave for waiting some Russian lover to come with a Nato argument or nazi argument. Cause it's the easy way for them to justify attacking other countries. "Nothing wrong in Russia" LOL

More importantly, it's pretty cheap and simple system so it can be deployed at larger numbers. I assume they will be making this regular artillery too. It's not fully automatic, but it's mobile and there's no heavy lifting aside from the ammo since set up is done automatically. Overall, quick enough, automatic enough and mobile enough. Which means you can make it cheap.
From what I know though, they are also building automatic aiming into the thing. Probably as module. Automatic reload on other hand is quite unnecessary.

I like the idea of a system which ain't so depended on technic and robots, but I see also the problems with manpower. Men have to work outside in cold and mud. If one men gets hurt by back injuries or joints or knees, you miss a man in your crew. Also you need more people to man the thing 24/7 in wartime. On the other side. you don't need very high specialised people to man the gun, the number of mechanical failures will be lower. And it is easier to go from one sort of shell or propulsion load to another .

Seems like the original idea was just to upgrade some of the towed artillery to self-propelled kind. Not as fancy as the Archer or CAESAR, but cost effective and simple. The coastal artillery comes in because they are finally phasing out their venerable gun turrets in island fortresses. Their primary weapon has been missiles probably for many decades, but I guess they might still consider keeping a some sort of gun as a secondary system.

Very effective if they can remain hidden or supplied. Without AAA to defend it in either gun or missile form heave arty is extremely vulnerable to drone actions.

Guts and self reliance ingrained in a culture from ancestral times. The Reds didn't know what hit them in 1939-40. Funny now that Ruzzia is all alone on the Baltic against NATO, Stalin's paranoia about Leningrad/St. Pete being vulnerable from Finnish territory has become Putler's reality. His home city!

🎉 Especially if it is firing Ramjet Munitions which have a certified acceptable range for a guaranteed CPE of 145 MILES. IMO otherwise they're not that bad as* yes they're mobile, yes accurate, yes rapid fire capable, but not beyond the reach of Russian Naval firepower. The majority of aces they have make them good...but without extended range only good not great.

We are not going to help war criminals. Finland is a very friendly country with Russia where most of the people are our relatives, Fenno-ugrians. The oligarchs kicked out by Russians have tried to distance us from our relatives just because they want us to help them to destroy Russia and donate its resources to them, the most criminal globalist-zionists of the world. This is your western dream but we will not help you there - other way round, we support "our people" and the justice. Now our own oligarchs have ordered us to buy and pay US and Israeli weapon in order to help them to continue with the "New Israel" (1920s) which Stalin already finished.

Finland happens to have more islands on shores than any other country and finnish gulf is narrow and in range of any weapon system we have. Russian Baltic fleet is obsolete because of those things. Missile systems and ships lurking camoed behind islands that are stealthy as they come with really good long range cruise missiles makes artillery bit outdated what comes to coastal defence. Those are for different tasks if they are even worth producing. And there is things as NATO and airforces.

An artillery piece with the range of 25miles would have sounded impressive 30 years ago. Shaheeds have a range of 900km these days so this wouldn't even get a chance to fire before it gets vapourised. As we have seen in Ukraine, only long range weapons have strategic value so wasting budget on something like this is just a public morale booster!

The whole point of the system is to give a new life to the towed artillery pieces, which are more or less obsolete in modern war. Slapping an existing piece on top of a truck, is a cost effective way to make them mobile, easily operable by existing crews with minimal retraining.
