During the Fall of 1996, fans asked Ritchie Blackmore questions via old his website. Ritchie gave his verbal answers to those questions via a cassette tape, which was released on his old website. This set of answers are from that original tape and is now republished online for it's 20th anniversary.

[BACKGROUND]
I designed, programmed, built and ran the official website for Ritchie Blackmore and Rainbow (RBWWW for short) from roughly Jan 1994 - Spring 1997. I had lots of help and support by an industry expert. I want to sincerely thank him for aiding me. (You know who you are) Ritchie's website has certainly improved with content over the last 20 years. However, some really cool content got lost along the way due to my implementation of RBWWW. This fan interview was one of the best things RBWWW had. This was Ritchie's first online socialization with his fans. There was no social media or Youtube or streaming back in the early 1990s. In 1996, it was ground breaking and cutting edge to have a website with interactive multimedia content. This audio interview with Ritchie Blackmore was one of the first of its kind back in the day. I was thrilled Ritchie took a chance on new technology and that he took the time to do this interview for his fans. Ritchie answered 131 fan questions for 100 minutes. This was his first "known" socialization with his fans on the internet. You get to hear Ritchie as he respond to each question. Pure Ritchie as he is.
Putting this interview online in 1996 was an archaic process compared to the way we do things today. The process was fans submitted their questions on his RBWWW website. I collected all the fan's questions. Printed them out on paper and snail mailed them to Carole Stevens, his manager. She sat down with Ritchie at the Normandy Inn on Long Island with a tape recorder. The cassette tape was mailed to me. Then I spent many tedious hours capturing, editing and converting the audio to play on the website, matching the answer to the submitted question, transcribing the answer, and manual building a webpage for each question. For this Youtube video, I redid everything from that cassette tape. The actual look and feel from 1996 is sadly lost.
So I hope you enjoy this labor of love from Fall 1996.
