Nam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) leader Seeman has expressed strong support for Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan, stating that Thirumavalavan has all the qualifications to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Speaking at a gathering in Namakkal, Seeman affirmed that his party would fully back Thirumavalavan for the position.
In his address, Seeman questioned the relevance of the concept of a ‘Dravidian Nation’ and criticized the Dravidian movement. He asked what boundaries define the Dravidian Nation and where it is rooted in history or literature, suggesting that the idea is used merely to control Tamils for political convenience. “I am a Tamilian, and I stand for Tamil identity,” Seeman asserted, adding that he has always supported the ‘Tamil Thai Vaazhthu’ (anthem of Tamil Nadu) and will continue to do so, though he prefers a pure Tamil version of it, such as one by poet Bharathidasan.
Seeman challenged the Dravidian narrative, accusing it of being a tool to weaken the Tamil identity and culture. He also questioned the stance of DMK ministers, particularly asking if Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi is ready to debate who truly represents the Dravidian cause.
Regarding Thirumavalavan, Seeman was enthusiastic about his leadership, stating, “I welcome Thirumavalavan becoming the Chief Minister. He is fully qualified for the role. As a Tamilian, I would be prouder and more joyful than anyone to see him assume that position. We will make him the Chief Minister at any cost.”
Seeman also criticized Union Minister L. Murugan, asking why Thirumavalavan shouldn’t become the Chief Minister when Murugan has become a Union Minister twice. He dismissed Murugan’s comments that Thirumavalavan’s dream of becoming the Chief Minister would never be realized, asking who Murugan is to make such statements.
He further criticized Murugan’s stance on internal reservations, stating that while NTK supports reservation policies, they oppose internal reservations that may divide communities. Seeman claimed that the ruling DMK is too afraid to stand alone or take bold stances, fearing both NTK and the newly formed party by actor Vijay.
