I agree with your points as a 1.1 player I’ve seen the game disappoint everyone over and over again and people just eat it up like why aren’t more people bringing this up we need more legacy characters like you said instead of just blatantly op like people who just pull characters they like will suffer because endgame will eventually get to a point it’s unbeatable without new characters and to fix it I’d think they’d need to instead of hp inflation they could add a power ceiling or balance it like endgame adapts to what you currently have not the newer characters or something

I think that the mentality in HSR is closer to Honkai Impact 3rd(in terms of selling characters) focusing more on new characters, but the difference in that HI3rd is that they focus a lot in making new stronger forms of existing characters.

Genshin for most of the time the endgame is not a main focus and there are more events to feature older characters to make you more attached to them and re-sell them to you. HSR releases a lot of characters fast and does not make time to sell you the character besides its role on the current story and their combat prowess. In Genshin characters exist in the same planet/world while HSR one goes through though universe, making character interactions between old and new more difficult due to living in different planets.

In HSR we are stranded in Amphoreous and the MC has no way to scape, therefore all of the events must be in that planet until the main conflict resolves. After that I'm sure we have are going to have a new event with older characters (God forbid banana quest part 2).

New HSR characters are being released to perform almost as good or better as older fully invested teams with all the best in slot team mates. Castorice is probably be the Acheron on this world where she will be very strong on release and as soon as she gets a fully catered support like Jiaoqiu was for Acheron its going to be disgusting and once again the devs will have to increase the Hp to compensate.

Sadly, they won't change these tactic that they're doing of Powercreep and HP inflation since it gives them more money than any system they've ever implemented and instead they'll introduce you an alternative way like giving those powercrept units in the standard banner to create an illusion of solution but in reality will just give them more excuses to implement newer worse predatory Gacha systems and ideas that can now be copied by newer upcoming games. as the saying goes, "if its working, if its not broken, why fix it". corporate business style.

I understand all of this, but it's a gacha game. One that speedran its own death, but a gacha all the same.

The sooner you lot get that, the sooner your love for them can die along with the genre entirely.

I feel like Sparkle hardly got any story when she was shoehorned into the Penacony arc. After that I don't think she was mentioned at all. Her abilities weren't that great. She could only buff others. She couldn't smack the enemy, she couldn't be offensive until...she was written into the main story of Honkai Impact 3rd. She was given a new kit. Her gameplay felt much more fluid. Plus she was given the personality of a psycho. Plus she can ride a carp, has the action advance mechanic and uses her own exploding doll. Honkai Impact 3rd is better than Star Rail in so many ways, yet it often gets ignored. Heck even Fischl feels like a 5* in Honkai Impact 3rd.

It's too late to make any changes. People already lost their trust so in order to regain it Hoyo should deliver something really cool but it would cost them big money and the result would be unclear. I guess Hoyo decided to focus on a small group of whales and dolphins who will never leave the game (vertical investments instead of horizontal) long ago. It synergizes well with their model to sell players brand new games. Moreover, there's (sadly) no good alternative for HSR in gacha space so why even begin to work hard when there's nowhere to go.
