Her home life wasn’t as the father stated.
She wouldn’t have gone to London to seek out the real cause of death for her mother..
That’s a major lie and the poor girl was probably struggling mentally… she clearly couldn’t speak openly at home.
She also sent goodbye things.
There’s 2 outcomes.. she either left or committed suicide.

She might been pregnant and went to have an abortion and it didn’t go so well!

This case has always circled in my mind. I have always wondered and hoped that she just left one day

I believe Ruth had a friend (probably a guy no one knew about) who helped hide her away for a year or two until he could help arrange a new identity and place to live.

I can’t even imagine saying “Get out the way, I’m in a hurry” to my teenager even though they frequently stand around in the way, It sounds like her home life was not as happy as her father wants to let on. I hope she just ran away and found a nice town to live in.

Staged suicide and runaway from groomers that trafficked her. She met her groomers with a promise of a fancy job.

I'm wondering if Ruth was in contact with a relative of her mother's - a brother, sister, or the child of a brother or sister (a cousin). They may have tipped her to the true story of her mother's death (which she confirmed with the trip to London), and convinced her (maybe even sincerely) to leave her father's home and explore relationships with her mother's side of her family.

The flowers could be a 'private' dig towards her stepmother something that only they knew!?
I wonder what her sister believes happened to her?

What's the betting she not only found out about her mother's suicide, but that the father was having an affair with the soon-to-be stepmother which drove the mother to this unthinkable act. I cannot even begin to imagine the psychological damage it would inflict to discover your mother deliberately left you, aged three, by doing this.

I have been fascinated by this case for years. I truly believe Ruth’s father & step mother are not being honest about everything. I believe Ruth left because of difficult situations at home & started a new life elsewhere. The bottle of alcohol & flowers are symbolic of something . I would love to see the letters she left behind.

I feel like the investigators are missing one obvious possibility here. Maybe when she investigated her mother‘s death there was something that occurred to her that the cops never saw. Perhaps looking into the mother’s death further would give them some answers into why the daughter left

It sounds to me that Ruth was very troubled after finding out the truth about her mother, and went to Box Hill to end her life, (hence finding the paracetamol, alcohol and notes). However the endless searches of the area surely would have yielded some kind of evidence of that. What a terribly sad story. Ruth was bright, intellectual and gifted as a musician she had a lot to look forward to but perhaps had underlying mental health issues that went undetected. I hope her family find answers to the mystery one day. It must be a living hell not knowing where she is or what happened.

As her friends said... she visited Box Hill often, but they didn't know why. They may know more than they are saying.
Could she have been having a secret relationship with an older guy, got pregnant, and ran off with him.
That could explain her recent worry and her grades at school dropping.
I also think she didn't want the taxi driver to see where she was going.
If pregnancy was the case, hopefully, the guy didn't harm her.

The fact that she was seen after the disappearance makes me think she may be still alive.

I’m fairly convinced she was depressed after hearing about her mother’s true cause of death. It is odd that her body hasn’t been found, but I think there’s a high likelihood that she went out there to end it. Especially with the goodbye notes.

I know someone who never let her daughter know the cause of her father's death. I feel like keeping secrets like this can really cause problems later on. Kids always find out. I feel like this contributed to Ruth's disappearance.

Hmm. The notes being found in a random place makes me think she intended them to be found there beside her body. Maybe somebody found her either dead or dying, picked her up to get her to their car or roadside (she seems very slight) but the person was too late, and panicking, disposed of the body because they didn't want to be implicated in a teenage girls death. Anyone local at that time with a criminal record who perhaps had reason not to get involved with the police?
