Same age and a skater on the east coast , grew up with Jays pics on my wall. Now I have his book on my dinner table. Traveled a similar road and also found Jesus who saved me and has blessed me beyond my wildest dreams. I found true happiness and success in serving others and Christ. The answer to your question would be a astounding, YES!! As Jay told everyone time after time after time. You either get jail or Death. Very few lucky ones come out the other side. I speak from experience.. God bless all the recovering addicts and alcoholics. Amen!

Yes, Plus they were all assholes... Stacy was pretty cool and business savy.. But, J and the rest were dick head coke heads by 1987. I met all of them at ST louis SIX flags in 1987.. ok.. it wasn't promoted right. And, Coke was $100 per gram. But, if you assholes wouldn't have been such dick's. My last day in Venice was body wampin shore break south side Venice pier with Jay. Should post the picture of him from the 1984 center fold surfer mag. Him just leaning back with a big barrel forming just about to get some heavy green room.

Jay was indeed one of the biggest influences on skateboarding transitioning from street to pool & ramps.
Jay, Steve Schneer, Christian Hosoi and Gator were the skaters who influenced me as a kid and I'm glad Christian and Jay got right with God, hope Gator is on the right path & gets paroled soon without Newscum revoking it, he's done more than 32 years.
