I like it...

I see amateurs all the time standing so far from the ball that they have to reach for it. They grip the club and extend their arms stiffly, which causes tension in their shoulders. It's a big contributor to slicing because it promotes an out-to-in swing path. I rarely see anyone stand too close to the ball. In fact, I tend to agree with Byron Nelson and Johnny Miller, who've said you can't stand too close to it.

To find your correct distance from the ball, get in your swing posture, and let your arms hang freely. Then bring your hands together. That's where you should grip every club in the bag. You want to be looking in at your hands, not directly down at them.

The distance you stand from the ball will change automatically depending on the length of the club. The longer the club you're holding, the farther you'll stand from the ball. Your posture (spine angle) changes only slightly from club to club. You stand a little taller with longer clubs and bend over more with the shorter ones.

What a great tip.  I'm 6'5 and this tip really helped me strike the ball so much better.

This is one of the best advices that i heard. I am 6-3 and I always had a problem my swing. I saw this video last week and I played this past weekend. I was able to be more accurate down the fairway on my drive. Thanks for posting this

Thank you so much for this simple tip, i`m  6` 7 and I tend to cast or come over the top on the downswing,. this stops it in its tracks. just bump out the left hip and rotate that body. now hitting the ball with much more consistency.

Wow- thanks IBJ. I'm an Aussie 6'6 , just turned 50, still strong and fit, but still searching for that elusive golf swing. I used the towels under my arm and it is a miracle, I have a smooth natural swing that is the same with Wedge or Driver in hand. I'm reborn!
