This is a hostage scenario.. US forces in Kabul airport, Taliban outside of Kabul airport. It is easy to say that all aircraft take off from Kabul airport within the range of the Taliban rocket. Biden does not want to fight anymore then...how much Biden has to pay the Taliban to guarantee that no shootdown will occur...It is a disaster for the US if it occurs

The US Militry is evacuating government personnel, personnel of other allied nations, Afghans who worked alongside our Military in our Military mission, NGO employees wishing to leave and selected high risk Afghans wishing to leave. Biden has also accepted the job of providing airport security for private charters arranged for by private entities like foreign businesses wishing to evacuate their employees.

Many Afghans may want to leave the country. The people who worked for the fleeing government and military or political figures who held high positions in the former government and Military probably wish to be elsewhere, but they must have a place to go to and meet the requirements for that trip, just as everyone else must do in ordinary travel. The US has no responsibility for them and the Taliban has taken responsibility by promising no reprisals and no vengeance.

If the Taliban expect to have Sanctions dropped and take advantage of any future foreign aid from the US, which they will certainly need to hold on to power, fend off their enemies and acquire the trust and cooperation of Kabul citizens, they must meet their responsibilities agreed to when they accepted the Peace Agreement.

The people of Afghanistan just had a vote. It wasn't a scheduled vote, but it represented choice in the starkest and plainest of terms. They voted the Taliban in and the US trained and equipped army and the old Kabul government out of power. That is a choice we have to respect. In that choice there is now a new exclusively Afghan-owned responsibility established for Afghanistan - one which also changes our options and our responsibilities. We are all now collectively and mutually freed to turn our energies to these new options and new responsibilities.

That did not happen. And President Biden, but mostly America itself, owns that. Do not forget that last September, at Trump's direction, Pompeo had the Taliban leader, mullah Baradar, released from prison in Pakistan to negotiate our exit by May 1, locking us in.

Start with the premise that Trump assumed he would still be president right now, by fair means or foul. He released the Taliban mullah Baradar and cronies from prison to negotiate our surrender, I mean peaceful withdrawal, by May 1. Once you've shown all your cards and left all that money and munitions on the table, hard to know what other inducements he might have had left.
