The 40s dress looks very similar to the wedding dress this lady i used to take care of wore for her wedding in 45. She had a picture of her in her dress on her bedroom wall and she looked so gorgeous in it. Part of it is the dresses back then were intended to be worn with soecific shapewear, part of it was people would get clothes tailored so they fit perfectly
ОтветитьHahahha😂😂😂
ОтветитьYou could have had the first dress altered by a seamstress, adding a corset-style lacing, and it would have been even more beautiful. It's a pity you didn't choose it because, in my opinion, it was the best one.
Ответить@alanafay You are BEAUTIFUL and VERY cute. Both dresses look REALLY cute on you. You look like a blonde/dirty blonde-haired angel in white. You also look REALLY pretty and CUTE in that purple skirt and purple velvet long sleeve shirt. You are BEAUTIFUL and VERY cute
ОтветитьI love the one you said wasn't flattering. That one was gorgeous!!!
ОтветитьThe one for, the 60’s I have the same material as my mums wedding dress in the loft
ОтветитьThe fourties dress is cool. Just doesn't look good on dumpy woman.
ОтветитьThe second dress reminds me of the one from the Proposal!!!!
Ответить💃💃💃💃
ОтветитьI wish we could have seen more of your chosen dress
ОтветитьHow do you know what decade? Just bc you know the style?
Are vintage wedding dresses made before _ more likely to be made of silk than synthetic? 🤔
My great grandmother’s wedding dress looked just like the 2nd one (1930s)
ОтветитьMy BFF from high school was married in her mother's 1940s wedding dress, which was like the one you tried on, only ALL smooth satin, no lace or anything. Wartime shortages, I guess. Anyway, it looked smashing, but she is super skinny,.
ОтветитьNot your fault! They were malnourished back then. ❤
ОтветитьI think the 2nd one is more from the 30's and if it was ironed it would have looked amazing on you. I have always loved that silhouette . Think Jean Harlow or Carole Lombard
ОтветитьWhen you find a wedding dress if it's soiled use OXICLEAN soak stains gone ❤❤❤❤❤
Ответитьthe end 🤣 i love your humor
ОтветитьI am 63 and married twice. Never wore a a wedding dress, never even tried one on. Huge regret! Huge.
ОтветитьThat first one is beautiful! I bet it was amazing when it was new!
Ответитьwhere is this magic land that has such low low prices?
ОтветитьI hope you paid for the one you ripped
ОтветитьYou are one brave human. Putting your body out there is already vulnerable enough but to me it’s the mental torture of trying on too small clothes over and over. Even knowing how f’d sizing is in women’s fashion it still messes with my head. To do both at the same time, you deserve a medal. Seriously. And thank you for sharing such amazing pieces of history. Even if they make me feel like a whale I can appreciate them and the pieces of art they are.
ОтветитьThat second one is my dream wedding dress😢😭
ОтветитьAll vintage clothing was designed to be worn with a GIRDLE and/or a CORSET.
ОтветитьBeautiful dresses thanks for sharing .
ОтветитьI bought it and got married! XD
Lololol girl I'm dead.
Vapid comments
ОтветитьThe second one literally looked so good to me, but what do I know? 😅
ОтветитьI lathe first one!!
ОтветитьOhhh my god as a straight man I absplutely need that second dress so badly
ОтветитьGarments from back then can often feel very ill-fitting now because they were designed to go over all sorts of weird undergarments. You can even see how the darts in the bosom are used to create a pointed effect that was probably meant to compliment some sort of precursor to the 50’s bullet bra
ОтветитьThe second one is giving the wedding dress from The Proposal
ОтветитьSecond dress was beautiful too, but your figure, and for some folks, it won't be very flattering.
Back then everyone looked more mature, and so those tall, near-waistless fits looked great on tall, athletic, individuals. Or even on anyone else with good tapering and an experienced seamstress/tailor to help!
Is this from a specific store, or just bargain shopping? Glad you're having fun with this, these days people do more online shopping and forget that going in-person can be so exciting ☺️
Child… your decades… you are, so off babe… 😅 Too young to know when these are from… they are all from the 80-90’s… I feel old lol
ОтветитьThe second one might be made out of parachute fabric. Women would be sent parachute silk to make their wedding dresses from due to fabric shortages, sometime in lieu of wedding bands. You can't get much more sweet and earnest than sending your loved one something that literally saved your life to make their gown from.
Ответитьthe second dress was quite pretty, just needed the appropriate structural garments to provide shape and silhouette
Ответитьrotting fabric lol. you just have to stop trying to squeeze your fat * into sizes that are objectively too small for you. I hope you paid for it because otherwise it's just rude.
ОтветитьDefinitely keep looking for dresses from the 1950s. The silhouette looks great on you.
ОтветитьLol the cheek hangin out 😂❤
ОтветитьThat first one screamed Belle from Beauty and the Beast <3
ОтветитьThe reason its not flattering is that you need the vintage underwear styles
Think for example how clothing made to be worn over a bullet bra would look weord without it etc
I love your purple outfit!
ОтветитьPlease please don't be offended by this but that second one just wasn't meant for your body type. It would be stunning on a diffeent body. FYI none of those were meant for my body type so I'm not shaming in anyway. Just some dresses aren't meant for certain body types and there is nothing wrong with that.
ОтветитьThe first one made ME want a wedding dress from the 50s 😭
ОтветитьThe 40s one would suit an incredibly thin and lithe figure....just imagine Tyla or someone similarly petite, but maybe taller in that dress. Not for me, but gorgeous ❤
ОтветитьCongratulations!!
ОтветитьWhy on earth are you ok with showing your ass on camera (showing that last dress is just out of pocket your not even actually wearing it to show off the dress you can’t see the pattern or anything)
ОтветитьI thrifted my wedding dress. It was about 30$ and from the 40s. It was the first dress I tried on and it truly fit perfectly.
ОтветитьThe second one is a DREAM!!! I wish I had picked something like that for my wedding.
ОтветитьHave to do this now ❤
