ОтветитьMy all time favorite movie and the song just gets to me.
ОтветитьGreatest actress, singer and you name it, she's got it!!
ОтветитьHappened to come across this movie yesterday .Bette Midler's performance was EPIC !!!! In the movie, She made mistakes which haunted her throughout her life and looked for reassurance, forgiveness, respect and validity through her fame. She became a victim of money hungry agents who cared not for her but getting her on stage to deliver, The scene at the end where she dies on stage is heart wrenching. Indeed, this was an Oscar winning performance. Thank you Bette Midler for this outstanding and gripping performance. I love you !!!!
ОтветитьI love this song ❤❤❤❤

Ответить2024 and still sounds like yesterday.
ОтветитьI'd never heard of this song before. My sister and I was talking to our mom about her funeral arrangements as her oncologist had made a decision to end her chemotherapy. These were incredibly sad conversations that I will always remember.
My mom said that she would like the Rose played when it was her time. My sister played the Rose to me, as mutch as I felt that I didn't want to hear it.. it had already started playing. I remember looking at my sister just staring at her phone trying to hold back her tears, I looked across to my mom who was listening to the song with her eyes closed gently moving her head. I felt lost in the middle and tried not to think about the day that was certain to come. My mom passed away on a beautiful sunny evening at home where she wanted to be with my sister and I present. Weeks later on another beautiful day the Rose played out at my mom's funeral and as I looked across where my mom rested the sun shone down on the Roses placed on her delicate wicker coffin. More weeks later and hear I am sat in my mom's chair in her living room again listening to the Rose and missing her so mutch 🌹
Bette Midler has one in 1980 for the golden globe awards for the rose, 1992 golden globe awards for the boys, 1994 golden globe awards for Gypsy, Grammy awards 1974 best new artist, Grammy awards in 1981 for the rose, 1990 Grammy awards but I can't remember for what. 2017 for the drama desk awards, and so many more. She has won a total of 37 times out of 78 nominations if I remember correctly.
This was written by memory.😊
Such a beautiful, clear voice.
ОтветитьUn grand film et une très grande interprète Bette Midler
ОтветитьTake me to the river, chuck me in the water leave me here to drown. Forever. ☆.
ОтветитьIf there ever was a performance that deserved an Oscar this was it, such a shame the academy didn't think the same way.
ОтветитьDarling please 😢😢😢
Ответитьalways come tears, when i listen this song. And i cant fight against it. The same time i love this song so much. ❤

Ответитьit’s the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live.
ОтветитьSuch a beautiful song ❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьStill brings tears to my heart...
ОтветитьExquisite voice. This song never fails to bring a tear to my eye .
ОтветитьNess' profile brought me here.
ОтветитьLove Bette Midler no matter the situation
ОтветитьImagine being drunk at a concert in the finding out that you're the lead singer
ОтветитьYou heard it here - if you didn't already know - this iconic ballad, burned into the memory of many, many a sentimental junior high student (I was in Grade 7), whose quintessential vamp was endlessly plunked out by those who managed to hoodwink their piano teacher into ordering the sheet music (so they could perform it with a shaky voiced girl singer at the school talent show), this 'sequel' to "Evergreen' was - hold on to your hats - NOT NOMINATED FOR BEST SONG IN 1979!!! If you ask me, it was the only contender other than 'The Rainbow Connection' to give 'It Goes Like it Goes' (the eventual winner and certainly a worthy one at that) a run for the money. I will never understand the opaque and irrational politics of the Academy. As you know, they sometimes do really stupid things.
ОтветитьOne of the most moving and touching songs, ever written. Just beautiful. ❤️💕
ОтветитьI want this song payed at my funeral some fa thi somg describes my life dad ad sweet 😊
Ответитьthis women is iconic and timeless and certainly a class act and today there doesnt seem to be actresses or singers who can compare to her.people of this generation had some seriously good music for there time and it will never be the same ever.
ОтветитьOnly yesterday. End credits.
ОтветитьJanis Joplin died when I was a jr in high school and I we a huge fan. To me this movie and it’s this song particularly is an homage to her legacy. Plus became HUGE Bette Midler fan and saw her live twice!❤
ОтветитьCould never find the movie again. 😢
ОтветитьThe greater song ever written..
ОтветитьAwesome!
ОтветитьMasterpiece
ОтветитьMy mom gave me my middle name bc of this song sung by Bette 🥰
ОтветитьMy sleeve💜
ОтветитьWhat a beautiful song…. ❤
Ответить❤🌹❤
ОтветитьMy favorite movie ❤
ОтветитьBette, the Christians have picked up on this. Thank you. btw, roses do not pop up out of seeds from the previous year. not sure how they do, but anyway, that is beside the point. Thank you.
Ответитьa lot of people have collapsed in drunkeness at the prospect of facing the huge crowd. no shame in that. greater shame in those who arrogantly have no fear to perform
ОтветитьI left home age of 16 hitchhiked from the other side of Oklahoma city to ten miles outside of Orange TX. Applied for a job at a movie theater. They didn't hire me but gave me a free movie pass. They were showing The Rose, which was big in south Texas because of the movie's supposed influence from Janis Joplins life. My mom loved Janis . Ergo so did I. So this song, the movie at 16
Yeah...
Kurt Cobain sang this at Reading in '92 right before the performance.
In a gown, you know the scene.
Maybe a Nirvana fan is watching this. :o)
Cannot listen to this without moist eyes
